It also killed between 10% and 100% (average of a 3rd or so) of populated areas every 10 years for about 600 years. So ~3x longer than the US has been around.

1·20 days agoFigured out why the cleaning is better. Unlike sonicare, suri only has 4 phases so when it turns off I turn it back on for another 2 phases for 3 minutes instead of 2 minutes. So the results are likely possible with any electric brush with 50% more brushing time.

7·1 month agoThat’s took bad. My old OnePlus 7 Pro was my all time favorite phone. I used the screen off gestures all the time. To see the company become shit so quickly sucks.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What does DLSS do, and what's up with DLSS 5?
2·1 month agoIn TAA every other pixel is rendered traditionally and the others are filled in. So it’s not frames generated it’s pixels that are generated.
And dlss does that same thing but in a different way. It’s like smart sharpening and takes a blurry image and makes it sharpen. No new frames, but a sharper image than is natively generated.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What does DLSS do, and what's up with DLSS 5?
22·1 month agoNo, that’s like saying TAA is frame gen.
Using temporal data to upscale is different than inserting frames that weren’t there to begin with.

11·1 month agoOnly if it’s turned on. I have yet to see a game that forces it. You get to pick if it’s on or not.
You sound like you have never used a modern nVidia card. Not a slam, just saying it you had one you’d know it’s optional.

12·1 month agoFrame Gen makes fake frames. Standard dlss does no such thing which is what the question was. It uses temporal upscaling. Not the same thing.

22·1 month agoI disagree with your premise. It does make games run better which has helped devs get lazy and use it as a crutch. When devs don’t use it as a crutch but let it be a bonus it’s great.
Though I just replayed Just Cause 3 for kicks and think visually it holds up to just about any of today’s games and runs like a top with any fancy stuff.

5 replaces assets in the game with AI bullshit.
This is it. What people think random is vs what it really is are often different.
The same song in a row three times is random etc. Randomness includes clumping. But most people think clumping isn’t random. We think shuffled is random.
The button isn’t even called random anymore. It’s called shuffle.
The book Fooled by Randomness is the best book on the phenomenon I’ve read. Taleb kills it in this book and it might be worth your time if this is interesting to you.

Don’t fight about what goes in or comes out. The juice isn’t worth the squeeze.
