Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Cyberleek Burned 270 Milion dev coinsEnglish
41·6 days agothis is fully intended to trick gullible people. it is absolutely about the money.
burning all these dev tokens just stabilizes or increases the price of the remaining tokens, and they couldn’t just sell them either, that would crash the price. they’re selling gta6 clips for $160k.
if you think that burning dev tokens is a sign of good will, you are a mark.
ever tried to talk to a christian about how an omniscient god clearly obviates any concept of free will? they really don’t like that.
“god is all knowing” vs. “i have free will”
christians press both buttons without thinking about it.
stark contrast to the two weird anti-therapy comics on the front page right now.
“joke’s on you, i was only pretending to be stupid”
yeah, this is trivial to do when you cherry-pick. no cities? no national parks? nothing from any of the mountains, deserts, two sets of dunes, or coasts? nothing from the PNW? no forests? not even grasslands? the grand canyon is literally one of the natural wonders of the world.
this comes across like anti-therapy propaganda.

Technology@lemmy.world•Ubuntu is growing faster on Windows 11 than on native Linux PCs, says CanonicalEnglish
7·10 days agothe awkwardly-written title is referring to ubuntu via WSL (“on Windows 11”) as opposed to just running linux (“native”).
the article is pretty clear what it’s about, even the caption on the first image straight up says what i just wrote. you read it instead of just reading the title, right?
yeah but there’s also been plenty of times i’ve been just screwed on windows where linux would have let me just go fix it myself, so that’s still “linux is the best thing ever” for me.

9·10 days agoyep, flock exists purely to get around the 4th amendment and the requirement to have a warrant.
it should surprise nobody that a project owned by anthropic is turning into slop.
this is legitimately what i think is happening. both with github’s constant outages and windows 11 seeming to be getting worse faster than ever before. a fucking gigabyte of ram for a weather app, a beginner programming project, built like an electron app because i guess copilot doesn’t know c#.
microsoft: “93.73 and 90, that’s at least two nines right there”
the four horsemen of just needing something linuxy for my linux screenshots

Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft is removing a legacy Windows feature, WMIC, that has been around for 25 yearsEnglish
1·14 days agonever even heard of wmic. looked it up and it’s just been superseded by a new tool. this is barely even news, but neowin had to title the article like it’s a big deal.
not even particularly confusing, it’s just two inexperienced users being inexperienced. it seems like it’s only confusing people that know OpenOffice and LibreOffice have OS X versions but somehow don’t know that not everyone knows what they’re doing.

ok but please don’t go to the few existing third places we do have just to scream
