Never seen it, but after watching the preview it’s one of the few movies from that era that recognize the ubiquity of cell phones. There was a period of time where Hollywood ignored their existence with rare exceptions. Then a period of time where they had to come up with some excuse why cell phones don’t work. Then they finally started working them into the plot. My 2010 date was more about all movies after around that time acknowledged cell phones and don’t try to “break” them as a tool for characters to use. Disaster movies obviously the exception as it makes sense cell phone towers would be destroyed or circuits overloaded.

Most movies from prior to 2010 would be drastically different if you included cell phones. It’s like saying Robin Hood would be different if you gave him a gun. Technology changes the ways we resolve conflicts.

There’s a little explanation in that it costs to get in to the race. So naturally people wouldn’t want to waste the attempt, except there’s always someone that will pay the fee and try just about anything.

Get people in office that value infrastructure over military might, and will stop subsidizing car and gas companies. A small thing any of us can do is, when job searching, require companies to justify why a job must be in office instead of remote and unless it makes sense, don’t accept in office requirements. That last one is arguable more difficult if you’re in desperate need of a job, but in other conditions, try it.

I’ve never used Apple intelligence and Siri alone has done a fine job for unit conversions, info lookups, and most any other things. No need to fire up chat GPT for those basic uses

I think my current job was, but that was 6 years ago, and maybe it was just applied through linked in and not “easy apply” I’ve definitely got a few call backs and interviews from easy apply jobs, but when it’s a remote job I know I’m one of hundreds applying and don’t have high expectations.

It does disqualify you from some. Even my company, that is entirely remote, doesn’t allow for Hawaiian ( and a few other states) residents for some tax reasons.

If you have close friends or family on the mainland, try using their address for remote work applications and see if that gets your foot in the door.

I believe this is one of those things where intent matters, and may vary by location. Willing to bet hitting F5 a few times is safe, even a few hundred times as long as it’s in the realm of just checking if it’s up yet.
