Technology@lemmy.world•Western Digital runs out of HDD capacity: CEO says massive AI deals secured, price surges aheadEnglish
11·23 days agoOnlyPhones is the future they want. Walled gardens and highly addictive apps and subscriptions and micro transactions. Freedom and real compute power will be locked away in their servers. And the top of the line phones are already expensive enough that pretty much everyone that has one is on a payment plan for it

1·2 months agoThe Dolphin file browser picked mine up pretty quick. In the left folder tab I think I just had to click on the Network folder and then my shares were there, and I could right click and pin them to the sidebar
Fuck CrossFit and fuck endurance sports, I was a sprinter swimmer until it injured my shoulders. I did have a brief vegan phase though. I still eat some of those recipes, but it’s not a full time thing.
Hmmm let’s see what else might check some boxes. I hate coffee, so not that.
Ah shit. Today is 3 years since I quit drinking, but I still drink (non alcoholic) IPAs. That’s a massive check…
I’m currently wearing a plaid flannel. I have a full beard at the moment though, not just a stache.
Hmmm. Yea I’m at least part hipster. Hopefully not more than 50%
Fuck. I’m catching strays over here.
I briefly had a manbun in 2011 before they were a huge thing (I was like 20 or so and just wanted to grow my hair out, give me a break), I’ve had a curled handlebar mustache for shits and giggles, and I now use an Arch based OS (CachyOS btw).

8·2 months agoI answered yes to see what happened. It tells me “Thanks for voting — You’re into AI. With DuckDuckGo, you can use it privately. Try Duck.ai”
No idea where they’re going to take it from here, just wanted to provide some insight on the other option.

21·2 months agoGoing to take me a lonnnng time to retrain my brain to not use “google” as a verb. I need to swap to the generic “search” or something
Edit: I didn’t realize, but am not at all surprised, that “google” is officially a verb in the Merriam Webster dictionary

I found CachyOS while trying to figure out the best OS for my handheld. Was on bazzite before that. I ended up loving it so much I installed it on my laptop and desktop too.

4·2 months agoI haven’t committed to doing it full time, but I’ve had a GPD Win Max 2 for a few months now. A little 10 inch laptop that actually has solid new AMD internals. Love it so far

3·2 months agoI bet it’ll be more like a subscription for an LLM upgrade, since they’re shoving “AI” into the OS, it’ll need a bit of local processing power but then you pay to connect it to a beefier server

Did not know gamersupps was a thing. Essentially pre-workout mix for gamers? Nice.
I don’t like that they don’t list the exact amount of caffeine on the label though. Just that it’s a proprietary blend. I think at least caffeine should be broken out into its own line item. But 154,000mcg for the blend, so not more than 150mg caffeine per scoop. On par with a normal Monster
Edit: found it on the cans, 125mg. Still not seeing it on the nutrition label for the tub of powder, probably similar. I’m laughing at it but may buy some for days I skip the gym but still want my morning caffeine, coffee fucks my stomach

As scummy as it is, it’s still how they make their living. Not at all taking their side, but I get pissed when someone wastes my time at work too. No idea how their pay structure is, but if it’s commission based, yea, more anger for having time wasted make sense
