Bruh…
The worst codebase I ever inherited like this was a Magento shop that had been heavily customized by a Czech programmer. All of the customizations had variables in Czech. The guy dropped off the grid after the handover.
I’m in this picture and I am okay with that.
I call it “mentorship”. Not the part where I leave you with a pile of my crappy code. The part where I ask for more money, and I leave if I don’t get it.
Was expecting this to be more like the “i made this” comic, where in the last panel he hands it over again to someone else.
I see a lot of that going around my place of work lately. Sucks to see the knowledge pool get more shallow around here.
The good news is that it’s a self correcting problem.
The bad news is the correction is often due to going out of business.
