Trying to untangle the title:
After wrongly classifying “Future? No Thanks!” as pornography, Steam re-reviewed it and and removed the classification, lifting relevant sanctions in the process.

Also, to the OP, microblogging doesn’t have titles by default. What can happen is the poster to add a very small paragraph in the beginning that works as title, but that doesn’t seem to be the case for the linked post.

Also if hiding manually is too slow, a simple Ublock Origin filter for hiding liked/disliked posts helps too, though that’d be bound to leave empty spots in the feed.

Also, as others said, @Untamed_Star@lemmy.blahaj.zone, if the game is on a DRM-free-oriented platform, like GOG, Itchio, etc., you could look for those.

Additionally, looking for sources of a given game can help find where it’s less of a hassle to get it, specially through databases or adjacent, like PCGamingWiki, ITAD, NeoDB (fediverse-compatible!), GameFAQS, etc. Also apparently it isn’t uncommon for databases to cross-reference each other, so one can lead to another.

If the game is only on Steam, install Linux on a VM, install Wine in it, run SteamCMD through Wine, download the build you want, and move to your host OS.

SteamCMD is a minimalist/terminal-based version of Steam. The Windows version can be downloaded separately. However, it downloads needed libraries and I’m not sure how good Steam is at escaping Wine’s environment, so a VM adds an extra security layer. Also the command changes depending of whether it’s 32-bit or 64-bit, if it’s for Linux, MacOS or Windows, or even if it’s a previous, still public update, and it’s been some years since I used those and I don’t have the commands noted down, so can’t help with that at least right now.

Old post, but besides what the others mentioned, there’s JoiPlay and ScummVM which act as binaries for the respective engines they support, if that’s within scope. Also more traditional conversions that come to mind are of Va-11 Hall-A, Ren’Py-powered games, and PICO-8-powered games.

Don’t even need to install #GOG’s games in some cases:

unzip (Linux installer).sh and/or innoextract (Windows installer).exe

(and not familiar with MacOS to comment)

Then just find the binary/executable file and hope you’re not missing a mandatory library/dependency

But joke about dependencies aside, some distros can be very moody with GOG’s installers (looking at you, Batocera), so unpacking may be needed in those cases.

Also good to quickly get needed files, e.g. for emulated games you want to play in your own emulators, and for games with source ports.

Also iirc posts to Ani.Social communities get bridged to #Bluesky through Web Bridgy similar to how the same posts federate to #Mastodon, meaning title and a link to the OP.

Yet to test in that regard, but if the bridge picks comments to those posts as a whole and parses potential hashtags as functional tags, and Mastodon does the same, you could maybe add a comment to your posts with relevant tags too (though again, maybe better to avoid spamming).
