I’m very surprised that people see a diet as a political thing

Your diet profoundly affects others. You have an environmental footprint several times what a typical extremely wasteful human consumes. You cause outsized trauma and suffering among the billions of individuals living in atrocity. How can you not see that it is political.

I have to be in good health to make a positive impact on the world, and we strongly disagree on the ruminant biocycle. Ruminants have lived on this earth for a very long time, they are not a net polluter - they are part of the natural cycle.

You have to want to believe that, and be willing to ignore mountains of research to the contrary, for it to be convincing. But that’s not the point. It’s downright disingenuous to say your diet has no political aspect. It’s hugely political. You just don’t want to think about the political component.

its only political because you have decided to base your entire identity around what other people do and eat. You have decided to make it political.
