Quality and style remained steadily the same. It had a bit of a teenagy clang to it, like it had been a Disney production.

It was OK for what it was.

Really liked the eye-zombie-monster. Mostly watched to see where that goes. Couldn’t care less about the “human” characters,

Teenage is a good way of putting it, it’s like it was pitched at that audience. And I was the same I dgaf about the characters they just didn’t work for me at all

If you don’t like it by episode 4, you probably won’t like the rest of it. I didn’t.

I really, really want to like it. I love the original trilogy and I’m planning on getting an alien tight tattoo. But I just don’t like the show… it doesn’t look or feel like the films, the characterisation is 2% as good and the dialogue is weak.

At the very least watch episode 5! It can be considered an entirely stand alone episode, and it captures the original alien movie feeling extremely well. It’s the moments on board the ship before it crash landed. I went back and re-watched it twice.

The rest of the show is kind of fun, but it has a massive blue balls season finale.

If it’s really boring you, then no it is not worth continuing. Whilst the show does improve in the back half (although the finale is a major disappointment), it does not change significantly in quality or tone. I’m not convinced it was made for Alien “fans”, in the same way The Last Jedi was not made for Star Wars “fans”. It’s trying to do something different and doesn’t care if it offends in the process. In other words, it’s never going to have the awakening you are hoping for.

The brief for the show was to hand Noah Hawley the keys to the franchise and see what he made of it. If you were a fan of his other work on Fargo and Legion, then this show has a lot going for it. He’s been given a lot of latitude with the property, and we see some big and bold firsts for the franchise. However, his style is very specific, and he doesn’t feel the need to rush things. Some people might not appreciate the way he goes about presenting information in unusual ways.

Episode 5 is the most Aliensy thing in the franchise since 1986. If you like your throwbacks, it’s for you.

At heart, the first season is the exploration of the ethics of personality transplantation, of medical experimentation on children, of a corporatist society without limits and of the incessant pursuit of the ownership of nature.

People who just want the big monster to thrash around are better served elsewhere.

The season doesn’t have a big ending. It assumes future seasons, as someone of Hawley’s stature might expect to. Like I said, he’s in no rush.

For me, episode 1 was slow, but set the stage for what was to come. Everything else was good, pacing slow at times though. I feel like they could’ve had another episode or two in the city before going to the island.

It’s interesting to see the different types of “post humans” (synth, cyborg, aliens) try to best each other. It can be slow at times, but to me the juice was worth the squeeze.

Like others said, if you’re not onboard by 4, probably not for you.

doesnt really capture the pre-prometheus aliens, its just an extension of the newer movies which were pretty bad. it almost like they are constantly teasing
