As a middle aged divorced guy who has accepted that (failing an unexpected inheritance or collapse of the national real estate market) I’ll never own a home, New York seems like one of the few US cities where renting permanently would be manageable.
He’s certainly convinced some other people to run on democratic socialist platforms. Omar Fateh was “the Mamdani of Minneapolis” though he just narrowly lost his mayoral election (after being snubbed by the party). Here’s hoping we see a lot more momentum in that direction
If he can pull off half of what he’s promised, it might be enough to get me to move back.
