    Health Secretary Wes Streeting said: "Weight loss drugs can be a real game changer for those who need them. I’m determined that access should be based on need, not ability to pay.

    What a novel idea. I wonder if this could be applied to other drugs and treatments. I don’t know, something else that maybe has to do with not being in the right body for you. Or maybe mental health conditions.

    This currently benefitting one company also really doesn’t help me not be cynical.

    I don’t know, on one hand it seems like a no-brainer, I’m on Mounjaro myself(and it doesn’t really work all that well for me, but that’s another story) and GLP1 agonists in general are a true miracle drug. HOWEVER! On the other hand it seems disingenuous to only incentivise the most expensive drug in the category - my pharmacist once grumbled that ordering my Mounjaro was very costly to them. I’d rather see the cheaper (and European!) options prioritised as it might be less of a strain on the already overstretched NHS.
