Willy Wender Aceituno, a naturalised US citizen, files a lawsuit against DHS after a violent immigration stop, highlighting aggressive enforcement tactics.
While their might be some validity in this, i think you’re miss representing your argument.
A reasonable person might conclude the deportation wss to be of criminals and there might be an expectation over what that is eg. assault, or murder etc. having a visa and having it revoked because seemingly you have brown skin then makes you a criminal, even if you’ve been there for 20 yrs, have kids etc having a traffic conviction a 15 yrs ago makes you a criminal and subject to deportation.
Trump was deliberately vague about what constitutes a criminal and left it to you to assume it was “baddies” but this non specificity should have been the red flag because it has precedence.
His popularity among all voters is still very high, something over 40%, so lots of people support the continued “gestapo-ing of legal citizens”, some continue with support even when it happens to them
Something like a non citizen with a criminal conviction having served say 18 months jail time at minimum being deported is probably widely supported, getting a speeding ticket and being deported, not so much.
