Agreed and fair. But then do not use an existing story with an existing fan base that expects a certain style and complex story telling (From the comics, books, etc)
If you want to tell a new story, create a new franchise built around the new story we need to tell (and we DO, we absolutely DO), new places to visit, characters, etc.
What they are doing now is hijacking a “ready-made audience” who “will watch anyway” and then turn around and complain when that audience is not showing up. Well, because it’s not their movie I guess.
I’m inclined to think they are only making these movies for the money and no longer for the art of storytelling. And I’m glad it’s not working out for them. These actors deserve better.
