its become more of a confidence man than anything.
ive been testing various models for about 4 years now. conclusions are always the same. even when referencing online material the accuracy is sub par compared to simply looking it up yourself.
its good for certain tasks, but as far as verifying information you are better off using ai to find sources, and then reading those sources yourself as opposed to the write ups it offers.
an example. last night i came across a character in the game “kingdom come: deliverence 2” named the “odd trader” after saving him from bandits he offers to sell you various oddities, one of which being a “broken roman spear” that may or may not be the spear of destiny that pierced jesus christ.
GPT said that you could reforge the spear and that it was VERY powerful, when i asked it specifically how to do that, it said “oh sorry! turns out you cant do that, its just an easter egg!”
this happens constantly. but many people who use it dont verify the output, and take it at face value. especially adamant defenders of AI and especially chatgpt.
i know some fan boys will get pissy hearing this, and thats okay. in order for a technology to improve you have to acknowledge its flaws. thats a part of innovation.
also, i do believe AI will cause far more harm than good in the coming years if it is capable of advancing the way people suggest it might. and this particular flaw is a part of that harm. we cant speed run AI without severe risks.
side note, if you are really fed up with this news cycle, you could take up a new hobby.
drones are crazy fast these days, and cheap to make, and there are SO many ways to build them now. they come with so mant different attachments, especially in the states. you could attach all kinds of crazy things to them. like nerf guns, and paintball guns and do all kinds of fun activities with lots of friends
also i hear the area around mar a lago is beautiful to vacation in, it would be great to get some birds eye view footage of that place. just for fun with a bunch of your friends
i hear also about how good drones are at stabalizing for long distance shots on video these days. you could fly them so high up you could barely see them or hear them from the ground.
some people even use them to drop small, or large packages from the air as well. just be careful they dont land on anyone important
that would be aweful…eh?
hey yall, im a props master, builder, set dresser in the film industry for the last six years.
thats called “greeking” which is used to cover up brands that a film or studio may or may not have the rights to, to avoid copyright, or associating the brand itself with something they may not want to be associated with, and then getting sued for it. (for example i recently worked on a film about a domestic terrorist, and coca cola wanted nothing to do with it. so we either had to turn labels for all of their brands, cover them with fake labels, or edit them in post, or blurr them in the background, etc)
you may be wondering why its called “greeking” and the answer is back in the old days they would remove or scratch off certain letters (we still do this sometimes) until you could look at it and say “its all greek to me” meaning you couldnt understand what it said.
i mainly use it for fact checking sources from the internet and looking for bias. i double check everything of course. beyond that its good for rule checking for MTG commander games, and deck building. i mainly use it for its search function.
