Indie game developer 🇨🇦
Working on some games for game jams in my free time
Admin of programming.dev and frontend developer for sublinks
Account has automation for some scheduled posts
Site: https://ategon.dev Socials: https://ategon.carrd.co/
Its semi broken currently and also functions on a whitelist with this community not being on the whitelist
The links to the other posts show up below in a cross-posted to section so you can still access it if you want. The limitation on it needing to be the same page comes from this handling happening on the frontend instead of the backend. Ideally imo backend should handle it like how it handles the cross-posts displayed when looking at the post itself
On lemmy-ui if both posts are both “visible” in the feed they will be compacted into one post if they share the same link meaning there wont be a duplicate post (unless you paginate and theyre on different pages)
Some other frontends such as sync dont do this though but they really should
any fediverse account will work. Itll allow you to log in when it opens
Since you mentioned not knowing if this is the right community. For any question where you dont know where it goes !no_stupid_questions@programming.dev usually catches everything. Theres also some other question coms at !cs_career_questions@programming.dev and !ask_experienced_devs@programming.dev but theyre more specific. I can leave this one here though, its fine (especially since theres a bunch of info here now)
Admin here, there should be nothing censored atm apart from a couple scam links
Not sure why that says removed but its not on our end (and its like that everywhere). Lemmy probably has some handling where it also censors if the posters instance says so
If youre not part of one of the instances/countries that submitted a song theres an other option when voting
If anyone still sees messages from the spammer in the comments let me know, federated removals are wonky sometimes
Theres been a bunch of activity and people joining in in the dev matrix already
Backend pretty much already has parity and the frontend is currently the main thing that an updated demo is waiting on but should be ready really soon
I’ve been designing an updated home page recently for it that I’ll be pushing out this week that looks miles better than lemmy-ui since I could do everything from scratch and thus quickly
Java spring for backend, Go for federation, Next.js for frontend
demo.sublinks.org has the backend with the lemmy-ui frontend to show api compatibility
Task list and progress is public on the github org https://github.com/orgs/sublinks/projects/1
Matrix space where all the devs talk is also public and you can see progress talked about in them
In terms of new tech stack currently theres sublinks being made by devs/admins of a bunch of instances (discuss.online, lemmy.world, programming.dev, etc.)
Its people from here which is people that fit both categories so would say it has some people that do non work programming
We have a discord and matrix community for programming.dev. Currently there isnt much there in terms of chatting about programming itself (mostly just things happening in the instance and lemmy) but there could be
Was bridged but the bridge broke so theyre temporarily disconnected https://discord.gg/3ZzW6dJxHR https://matrix.to/#/#p.d:matrix.org
Alright ive modded you, since its at 2 mods now ill unpin the post
I just transferred the community over to ericjmorey due to them posting in the mod thread so ill try to not manage this as much but I can give my opinion on this community
With all of the question communities ive found that the posting rate is much lower but the engagement on each post is relatively high. If the scope is widened the high activity could be flooded out due to people unsubscribing due to it not being focused on the question topic anymore
(for articles formatted as a question) With articles the focus tends to be more about the article rather than the question itself and you get people talking about things discussed within the article rather than it being open ended
Feel like best thing would be having a new community for career articles
edit: If having a new community for career articles is what you guys want after this discussion just let me know and I can set one up
There was some repeated patterns that this user seems to have been doing so I gave them an instance wide ban
if it has actual content that relates to the community then its allowed
if its paywalled though or doesnt relate to programming then can be removed (programming in a general term since this was voted to be a collector community for all programming content in the instance)
