Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•Two years ago, Los Angeles voters approved a measure requiring the city to build bike lanes and sidewalks. L.A. officials are trying everything they can to undermine the will of voters English
7·5 days agoI live in Los Angeles. Coming from Chicago where the weather hinders commuting by bike often I was excited to be able to commute by bike in LA. Wow do the drivers not like bikers here. The aggressiveness and lack of infrastructure is demoralizing. Oh well

111·6 days agoThat’s my issue with hostile architecture. I live in los Angeles. The homeless here are struggling and need material help, but to many they are deemed like animals that need to be chased away. I regularly hear people talk about the homeless as if they are an inconvenience instead of people suffering. The lack of empathy is mind boggling. I’m only one guy, what can my dumbass do though?
Wow I wish you the best, I hope you stay safe in Lebanon. I’m glad you got to explore your home country, I hope to visit it in the future!

Android@lemmy.world•Google seems to have pushed a massive amount of ai-generated 4 and 5 star reviews to their new "Android Developer Verifier" appEnglish
21·6 days agoI still think this AI revolution is being shoved down our throats instead of being an organic revolution revolution. The funny thing is I did and do use AI features. I just refuse to download or activate any new bs ai permissions. Because I refuse to do that I have lost functionality in my android Device. Now I can’t tell my phone to schedule something on the calendar. That feature used to be native with the phone now it’s locked behind the AI app. I still use image search a lot, I bet that will be gone soon.
Anyway, this is Google trying to use their idiotic AI to manipulate us again. Just like taking away features to download the AI app, it’s all about control now, not utility, not customer service.
FuckCars is spreading 😂😂

The tracks are displayed wider than the actual gps ping and gps drift happens indoors causing wider tracks. But I do visit neighbors’ buildings as well so it’s a combination maybe?

Awesome. Yea I love FoW! What level are you?
I just came here from reddit since it deleted the use of old.reddit and I hate the phone app and the new layout of the website. This seems like a better community too!

23rd Street, Santa Monica. August 9, 2026, a driver in a green truck runs over bollards in the protected bike lane. On August 19, Councilmember Dan Hall reports that the Santa Monica Police Department “has identified the vehicle and owner. They have had the vehicle towed for expired registration and are following up with the owner on the vandalism of public property.” @electdanhal Santa Monica has built 119 of the 187 miles of bikeway in its Bike Action Plan. Roughly five of those miles are protected. The half-mile on 23rd Street is protected by plastic barriers called “armadillos” while other areas, such as 17th Street are protected by concrete curbs.
