This is an environment that doesnt include weather, pedestrians, many other cars, or other obstacles. I feel like my 4 year old Honda could almost manage that. It can follow a lane at a set speed without me actually driving. It can’t manage obstacles or signs or anything like that so it clearly isn’t self driving and I’m not claiming it is. The only hard part would be the intersection between two tunnels but I feel like that part has already pretty much been addressed by Tesla FSD tech.

Personally, I think a lot of the behavior you mention is tied to a lack of ownership/personal investment in their community.

Unpopular opinion time: I think a year or so of mandatory service after high school would be beneficial for most people in this regard. Working for pretty much any non-religous social organization would be work and bring people closer to the place that they live and increase empathy for those who are worse off than they are.

As a Linux beginner who has a couple of false starts into it being my daily driver I’ll say that there are two stumbling blocks left for me. Permissions “issues” is the bigger problem and some programs not being as fleshed out is the other.

I agree it should be opt in but most platforms take ownership of your words as soon as they are submitted allowing the platform to decide if they want to sell the data for ai.
