Technology@lemmy.world•Google Search is now using AI to replace headlinesEnglish
20·7 days agoApparently this has been going on for a while but The Verge started sounding the alarm 3 months ago. They know most people won’t read more than a couple sentences past a headline if they even open the article at all. Confirmation bias is about to go wild

Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL about “Second Screen Viewing” and that Netflix pushes writers to make scripts and dialogues simpler to keep viewers who are on their phones engagedEnglish
16·3 months agoI feel like nearly every Netflix original I’ve saw in the last few years at friends houses feel like they’re made for middle schoolers with the story devolopment and over explaining what they’re doing/about to do on screen as if we can’t see them

Android@lemmy.world•TCL's newest NXTPAPER phone is a versatile mid-ranger with up to 7 days of battery lifeEnglish
7·3 months ago‘With the help of the same proprietary TCL NXTPAPER 4.0 tech as the aforementioned high-end 60 Ultra handset, this hot new mid-ranger promises to keep the lights on for up to an incredible seven days between charges. That’s possible despite the use of a no-longer-remarkable 5,200mAh battery, but only in a Max Ink Mode designed with “immersive and distraction-free” reading in mind.’
So up to 7 day battery life if you use it in eReader mode

61·3 months agoI got a Sony OLED that was on a steep discount near the beginning of covid since it was clear me and my roommate would be home a lot more (Ended up just being in nature more and used it sporadically). Thankfully their interface was minimal at the time so it was just a blank homescreen in offline mode but I’ve saw tvs now adays some people are buying that will have an overlay even while on any hdmi inputs, that you must connect to the tv. A friend of mine got a cheap Walmart one after a move like 2 years ago and the overlay took up a third of the screen. He just moved too so he had no internet to connect to for a couple days so couldn’t even use his PS4 on it.

Technology@lemmy.world•LG Update Installs Unremovable Microsoft Copilot on Smart TVs, Ignites BacklashEnglish
28·3 months agoIt seems TV aren’t even owner by the owners anymore. I don’t watch TV nor game anymore but seeing the amount of ads when just turning on tvs at friends houses is wild and now with this it’s doing way too much to just be a display. Whoever decides to start making dumb tvs again at mass with all the newer tech like hdr and dolby atmos in it will have a booming business but I guess no residuals after the sale no unlimited growth for investors.

13·4 months agoToliet camera…for $600 camera with a monthly subscription… might as well just go to a doctor weekly with stool samples if you care this much about your rectal health. I can’t see this being popular outside of a very niche group of patients that need it

Technology@lemmy.world•MKBHD's Panels wallpaper app is shutting downEnglish
65·4 months agoIt’s been around for like 2 years now I believe. There was a bit of hype about it when it first came out since he’s a popular influencer but it didn’t get many to actually sign up for the $50 a year subscription. I do know people did the on time purchases of some individual wallpapers though. As to why, I think he is too into the Apple ecosystem of everything being a subscription that he forgets that most people can’t afford nonsense.

GOOD. Bubble grew a bigger hole letting the air out. Disney removed their $1B investment so let’s hope more do too in the near future to keep ripping that hole wider, yes.
