Hello Kitty is indeed a marketing ploy. It has since gotten its own animated series, comics, and so on, but the reason it exists was to try and sell stuff to pre-teens.

It is fascinating to me that you mentioned “Hereditary”, as that’s the flick I had in my mind as “excellent jump scares” while writing the comment. There’s a scene early on - possibly the one you’ve mentioned - that soundlessly had the hair on the back of my neck on-end. Beautifully done.

Honest question - how many of you readers enjoy jump scares? They just feel so cheap to me. Like, yeah - most people are going to twitch if you flash a spooky image with a loud audio stab. Is that really fear, or a reflex?
Can anyone enlighten me? Why do you like them? They’re so common; I’d like to find a way to enjoy them.

So it’s just the same poster, but with “20th anniversary” on it

Racist DNS!

“Robot army” from the guy who gave us the Cybertruck? I’m not worried.

IIRC she’s headlining the next GOP convention.

I’ve not heard of that one, but Björk plays the lead? I’m in.

Gird your loins and try “Requiem for a Dream”. It’s a phenomenal heartbreak of a movie and I genuinely think Leto was fantastic in it. It’s a flick I think everyone oughta watch at least once.
Apart from that? No clue where anyone got the idea he was a “franchise-leading man”. Or an A-Lister, for that matter.

The thing is - the original became a cult classic in part because of the “cutting-edge” special effects. These modern takes look flashy, but they’re not showing us anything “cutting-edge”.
Funny enough, I think the now-dated look of the original is part of its charm. I wonder if a Tron sequel would do better with a “dumbed-down” look.

I can’t wait for them to resurrect Mister Rogers as a soulless AI ghoul to tell the kids it’s wrong to not have a social media account through one of today’s sponsors.

“Experience” doesn’t matter. The goal is to destroy things like SAG-AFTRA. They’ll push this shit through regardless of public opinion because none of the suits in charge care about “human-centered” anything. They want to monopolize the industry until the only option is to pay to watch their content, and they want that content made as cheaply as possible.

His view? “We needed to make those decisions. And it took real courage.”
“I destroyed people’s livelihoods and they found out via the press. I’m so courageous.” What a piece of shit.

Clearly the change has been good. Dude’s lookin great

Glad to see I wasn’t out-of-the-loop. That’s what I figured, but the little callout in the wiki had me questioning.
Thanks for the sanity check
We just have it on repeat in another tab because hey content creators need revenue.
A new physical, flammable headquarters, you say?
That was pretty standard for a while in web design - traditional “desktop” sites need a radically different layout when viewed from a smartphone, so from the dev side you’d check the size of the screen & redirect the user to the right subdomain for their device.
Nowadays it’s not really necessary.
