  • My wife was the hardest battle since we are probably on the older side of people who use this site. I got her to drop cable, and in return, we got hulu live back when it was $40 a month. Within 3 years, it’s now $85, and without the add-ons and I said it has to go. Sat down and figured out everything she would watch, and although slightly more annoying to change channels, we just purchased subscriptions directly to the 3 channels she wanted and have the apps. So $85 is now like $20. I have to save money everywhere I can, cable is so pointless these days when everything offers easy cheap ways to watch just about anything.

  • I’m only commenting on the Steam refund part. That’s crazy to me, of all places to return games. The most relaxed has been Steam and never had any issues with them. Even if waiting a month, they normally only care how long you played it, which I think is supposed to be less than 2 hours. For comparison, I tried returning a PS5 game and was immediately denied because they claim as soon as the game is launched once they will not accept it back, which is awful.

That sucks they denied you. It really sounds like they should have let you return it.

  • As someone who works in telecom building phone tree menus, I agree. I have never said this is needed. I’m sure there are some companies with a million departments where narrowing it down with this would be quicker, but I’ve never dealt with one where 5 options and maybe a few subtrees didn’t get the job done. Takes under a minute to navigate. I believe the customer enjoys this more as well.

  • I’m done with Hulu… thankfully, I convinced my wife to finally say no to live tv. I switched the plan last month, and it’s gone as 8/8. I’ve been with them for about 4 years now, and it was $40 a month then, and that was with extras like unlimited tvs and no ads. Now it’s $85, and that’s cutting the TV streams and adding ads back.

When it renews, I am getting just Hulu for the year, which is $5 bucks less than 1 month now. The only thing that she watches live anymore is news, some sports, and the occasional event like Olympics. NBC (or peacock?) is like $7 a month and should cover most of it. Sorry Hulu, you got too greedy.
