  • The apps is definitely a part of it for me. One if my friends got YouTube Premium, and since he has 3 profiles he can attach to it, hrs letting me use it. It’s nice for the ad free videos on my TV. But it also comes with YouTube Music. It’s honestly kind of annoying at times.

Like yesterday I wanted to listen to an album by a band, and they only have like 2 of 3 albums. The one I wanted to listen to is the one they didn’t have. So I had to make a Playlist by finding videos of the songs.

And thats for a band that’s not super underground. I listen to a lot of grindcore and black metal, and a lot of that isn’t even on there.

And when you download things, you can only have it organized by albums. I can’t organize it by band and then have all the albums.

It’s also sometimes slow to load up stuff I’ve downloaded.

Over all its not the greatest experience. I’m currently looking at getting a mobile game device for my emulators so I can free up space on my phone, and then I’m thinking about just going back to having all the music on files on there and using an music player app. And like you said, I can have it organized how I want and customize things a bit more. Especially since I no longer have Comcast, so I can use Soulseek again.

  • Same. I think the only time I’ve ever done ng+ is for souls games. But I’m not gonna support this. A few years back I really came to terms with the fact that I’m never gonna play all the games I want to, and it’s OK if some of them slip through the cracks. Now I don’t regret skipping out on a lot of games. Like I would love another old school Assassins Creed. I’m not getting anytbing from Ubisoft. Part of me wanted to give in for that. Then I saw shit about ads on the loading screen, and said nope.

EA. Finally coming out with a new Skate. I still gave copies of the first 3. I would buy a new one after years of wanting it. But it’s EA and Session exists. So I’m good. I’m not even gonna download their free game.

  • My boyfriend is in nursing school, and they have some sort of program where you can move there and get a house for cheap, if not free. I’m sure they’re not great houses and would need some work done, but still a great deal. We considered it for a hot minute…

But then I started thinking about that stuff, and did some more research into what it’s like to move there. Some really awesome aspects to it, but I think we are gonna pass.

  • No problem. Basically I also saw posts about how BG3 was also “woke”, not just because you can play as a woman, but also because you can romance anyone(or at least the main NPCs). So you can be straight, gay, lesbian, or even romance multiple people and be bi. It’s all an option and you’re not forced to romance anyone if you don’t want to. But just the option being there was enough to get people to throw a fit. Even though having plenty of options is kind of the point of the game.

  • And then of the characters significant other is important? Like they complained about Spimer-Man 2, despite the playable characters not even being gay. We know that because we know who they are after.

It Takes Two. Me and my boyfriend played it. Beautiful game. Loved it. Plan to wait a few years and play it with him again. It’s about a straight couple. I can’t imagine how that game would work if we didn’t know that. Like I guess we could keep stretching the argument to “Well they could be bi”, I guess. We don’t need to know that. But it kind of helps to know they’re married to know the story. Otherwise it’s gonna get weird with the kid involved.

We don’t have to try and out progressive everyone for everything. A story can have a romance and we can see the romance and we can know who they’re dating and we can know they’re sexuality. None of this is the issue.

Your example would make sense in Doom. Sure. I’ve literally never seen anyone ask for it in doom. It’s a terrible example because it’s not that kind of game.

But for many games where the story is actually a big part, and not for games like Doom where the story really doesn’t matter, it’s fine. We can still celebrate love in really any shape or form(thats not harmful). If a game wants to avoid it, thats also fine. Once again, not arguing every game needs it. But if that’s the story, that’s the story, and it seems pointless to be angry that you know who a character is dating.

The movement for queer acceptance isn’t for people to be hush hush and for us to make the closet bigger to invite straight people in. It’s to get people out.

  • Its more so none of us complain that we play straight characters. Because it’s not a big deal. We get straight people exist. We don’t hate straight characters. So if we can do it and be perfectly fine and not feel like it’s being shoved down our throats, then why can’t straight people play gay characters? Yall get the vast majority. Just play this one with a gay character.

Or don’t. Theres thousands of games that come our every year. So much that I could make a list of games that have come out in the last 2-3 years I was excited for, never got around to, and will probably never play, because as an adult I just don’t have the time to play all the games I want to.

We have so many, that if yall stopped focusing on the one few with gay characters, you can find plenty of others to enjoy. Why bitch and moan once we get a game with gay characters?

Half the time it’s not even main characters. I remember seeing YouTubets throwing a fit because one side mission has you help a male high-school student ask another boy out to prom. Completely optional. Easily skip able. You do the mission, and them move on. And that was too much. It’s not even when we have a main character. It’s when we exist.

Boulders Gate 3. The option for a queer character is there. The option is too much.

  • I imagine it is. We are kind of making things worse. But at the same time the issue started because they kept canceling shows. People would watch what they wanted, and some just didn’t have a big enough audience, or Netflix just didn’t care, so they would get canceled. And that’s why now some of us don’t watch what we want, because what we want is likely to get canceled, even if we do watch it. Us not watching it just increases those chances. But I’m not willing to spend time on a 1 season show that gets left without a finish.

I think another problem is that they have a little of everything. If you want a particular type of show, they probably have made it. Maybe even more than once. But that also means the viewership gets spread a little thinner, which means many of them aren’t getting as many views as the big name shows.
