Good to know, glad you take advantage! Amazon is one of several companies I avoid on ethical grounds but I fault nobody else for shopping there.

I was mostly being facetious, I try not to use Amazon. My wife does off and on and has used a free trial 3-4 times a year.
The trials are 30 days (in the US) and years ago, 4-5, I would just use a throwaway email and do a new trial every 30 days to keep Prime. Not sure if they guard against that at all now or not.
I always sign up for the free Prime trials just so I can get the satisfaction of cancelling.
It’s the shortest month but it sure doesn’t feel that way.
I know how to sit on a fence. Hell, I can even sleep on a fence. The trick is to do it face down with the post in your mouth.
I wasn’t here. It’s a pretty common saying. You might want to log it away for future use.
Yeah! What a terrible job they’ve done raising those bullies!
Thank you for the reply! I hadn’t consider the regulation around the government as the purchaser.
I’m maybe not who you’re looking to hear from but I can provide a patient perspective.
I never refused my medications but there was a point where I was rude, mean and difficult. For me it was a combination of things. I was tired of being sick, tired of the hospital and wanted to leave but wasn’t well enough, struggling with loss of control and scared.
I did snap out of it and made a point to apologize to the staff I had mistreated. Ultimately it was a negative expression of everything I was feeling because I didn’t know how to process and handle it appropriately.
Wyden, who released the Dec. 11 letter, called upon U.S. intelligence officials to stop using Americans’ personal data without their express knowledge and consent, saying it was unlawful
Anybody able to explain how this is unlawful?
Is there a restriction on intelligence gathering agencies that would apply?
I don’t believe this is right or fair but I’m not clear on how it’s illegal.
It’s pronounced colonel and it’s the highest rank in the army.
I wonder what, if any, impact switching to a bigger vehicle like this will have on those areas where postal workers drive to stop points in their area and walk their route.
Didn’t they just upgrade a bunch of USPS with Mercedes made ICE vans too?
Edit: those are apparently stopgap vehicles to get them through until their able to adopt whatever new standard the settle on.
For me it’s a tie between:
Don’t ever, for any reason, do anything, to anyone, for any reason, ever, no matter what, no matter where, or who, or who you are with, or where you are going, or where you’ve been, ever, for any reason whatsoever.
and
Sometimes I’ll start a sentence, and I don’t even know where it’s going. I just hope I find it along the way. Like an improv conversation. An improversation.
The short answer is to restore it:
- Restore SMS backup
I’m not a Sophos admin, never have been, so I can only speculate but it might be to restore a message that was altered due to the filtering if captured incorrectly.
I’m also not sure why it specifies SMS but not RCS. I do know Sophos uses SMS to communicate between a device and Sophos Central.
Without more context and information it’s hard to say what exactly happening from the permissions KB.
I can’t definitively say it’s not possible but I’ve never heard of an MDM that allows an admin to read user texts. I appreciate the links, it helps to understand where you’re coming from.
I still remain skeptical but, like I said, better to be over cautious than under. I’d be leery of any company that tried requiring me to use my personal device with MDM.
Everywhere I’ve worked with BYOD it’s been optional to use your personal device. If you were in a role that required it you’d get a company provided device.
Yep, it’s part of their message filtering that I mentioned.
This link provides more information and explicitly states the following:
Sophos Mobile does not track privacy data such as contacts, SMS and call history, browser history, bookmarks, or emails. Sophos Mobile does not access any data outside of the Sophos container.
and
Sophos Mobile does not track privacy data such as contacts, SMS and call history, browser history, bookmarks, emails, or data on the SD card.
Sophos has a strong cybersecurity focus which, I’d imagine, is why they have the message filtering option that they do.
Protection from liability and often a requirement of insurance.
I looked through your links. I don’t see anywhere that SMS can be read. The permission kind of makes sense as there is a security component to filter spam/phishing type texts. Sophos themselves claim they don’t store any of that data.
I hadn’t ever seen the call log one and I’m not sure what that would even be used for. It was interesting though.
App lists is common across all MDMs. It’s used to ensure apps are being updated and on fully owned corporate devices some apps will be blocked.
It seems like many don’t really understand how this technology works. That said, it’s better to be overly careful and I agree with others in the comments. If you want me to use a mobile device for work you can provide it, I don’t put MDM on my personal device*.
*the exception being our own MDM we have setup to manage our personal devices more easily.
I can only imagine. You guys get that lake effect cold and wind. I’ve seen it a little in Duluth, I can only imagine what it’s like in a city nicknamed the “Windy City”.
Yes. We got married a little over 3 years ago. We originally were planning to get married in the spring of 2021 but Covid changed our plans from being a larger wedding to one with just immediate family.
Then the venue we picked for the new wedding plan decided to close until the spring due to Covid about two weeks before the day.
We threw together a home wedding, just us, our parents and our siblings with their families. We loved our wedding though, it ended up being perfect! We were both in our 30s already and smaller just ended up being right for us.
We did keep our original wedding date and hosted a reception type of gathering for friends and family at a nearby park. That way we still got to party with extended family and friends.
