  • 😂 Since I watched it last night it was fresh in my mind, but I could decipher Takeshita’s hair and trunks through the blurriness, plus the white ropes. If I didn’t just watch it I would not have gotten it.

Takeshita’s English is getting so much better too, he spoke a bit at the media scrum after the PPV. He’s a beast!

  • I don’t believe that’s possible. I think at one point there was a way to disable all access to the history API, but I don’t believe that option exists anymore. Additionally, it would break a lot of websites.

Unfortunately I think this is probably a result of the way YouTube implements their “auto play next video” feature, and they are unlikely to change that.

An option might be using an alternative YouTube front-end, rather than using the YouTube site, but I don’t have a lot of experience with those. (other people on here do though)

  • No. The API is correctly named, but I can see how it could be misleading (and concerning!)

That API allows websites to programmatically go somewhere in your history. It can go forward, back, or to a specific point in your history, but it can’t see what that history is, it can only go back 3 pages back or forward 2 pages for example. It doesn’t actually know the history, it just navigates to those points in history. So Google isn’t going to know that you were on Pornhub 3 pages ago, for example.

  • Hah. From your perspective sure, I’ll give you that. I don’t think subjective or objective “quality” is the sole criteria when comparing cinema, especially in this context where the article is talking about comic book movies versus the rest of cinema, but I am running on 4 hours of sleep so I wasn’t as clear I could have been, sorry. In this context, from my perspective, they are inherently comparable since they are in the same genre. I think we may also have slightly different applications of “comparable” here — maybe a regional language thing?

For the record I think the couple of Marvel movies I’ve seen have been vapid wastes of time that could have possibly been written engineered by LLMs for maximum returns on investment. So I think we’re of a similar opinion and probably on the same side here. I still think mentioning Nolan in this context is hilariously hypocritical given he made some of the biggest comic book movies ever. I get the intent behind evoking Nolan’s quality filmmaking, still funny to me regardless.

That said… Your messages come across as quite antagonistic. Why is that? I mean this quite sincerely: are you doing okay? It takes so much energy to be sour all of the time — I know from experience. Feel free to message me on here if you want to shoot the shit.

  • a) isn’t this nutbar still on YouTube, and thus not censored?

    b) you shouldn’t be able to profit from spreading disinformation

    c) laws regarding free speech / freedom of expression do not apply to private corporations such as Youtube

    d) the timing of this is trying to imply Brand being demonitised and the recent sex pest allegations are both orchestrated by the UK government

    e) this article seems just as nutty as Brand

Fuck the UK government, but also fuck Russell Brand.
