Whenever my family went on holiday to Dartmoor when I was little, parents would always take us to church at Buckfast Abbey if we were there on a Sunday.
Always thought it was just for the nice architecture and the gardens, but maybe they had another motive…
Saw a working mercury arc rectifier for the first time recently and those things are wild, definitely don’t look “right”

7·2 years agoOh yeah that’s just how most English Heritage places are 😆 what you “do” is walk around, read the plaques, and climb up bits if you’re allowed - sometimes there’s even a roof!
