Mmm I’ll keep my DAP and phone separate thanks. Edit: Just to add to my point I think it could be the worst of both. Noisy DAC because of ‘GSM modem’, poor phone due to older version of Android, lack of updates, average camera etc. I’d be happy to be proved wrong.

I’ve got a 13 year old probook 5330m. It’s running Lubuntu, with no working battery these days, but it’s fine other than that.
My particular DAP has a class A amplifier and a balanced output, and it’s HiRes. It can drive reasonably big headphones, basically portable HiFi.
I use IEMs aa well but upgraded to a DAP, so strangely enough it’s a non issue now. Hyby R5 Gen 2, it sounds great.
