Maybe the heels are questionable but running to get to bed early isn’t.
So was Einstein and didn’t treat his wife well if I remember correctly. I guess there are no heroes.
If you plan on getting rid of the wood supports you can do a bookshelf with a built in ladder on the far side to get to the books and make use of stuff there and aren’t afraid of falling and on the near side put a couch with some sort of support so it can’t fall into the stairwell, but only do those two things if you’re ok with some clutter and difference in how that stairwell is set up, otherwise put something there to stop people falling regardless, thus the couch with the supports.

I hate that youtube music did that when google music worked better and allowed you to run it without connecting periodically. Now I have Grayjay and a music app I use in graphene, never been happier to listen to the people I subscribe to only and have to go out of my way if I want to doomscroll.
More like anti-fungal effects but still interesting.

That link feels appropriate to both this comic and the melania situation.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Let's say hypothetically I wanted to leave the US permanently;
5·9 days agoIf you don’t have any savings it will be harder but you and your wife may want to try Ireland or the UK for English language jobs, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia work as well but the cost of living may go up a bit at first. If you are in the US Canada would probably be the easiest and cheapest to move to. If you are able to sit through the ESL equivalent for the respective country’s language the whole world is your oyster, just see which countries have more open immigration policies and fewer human/civil rights violations that has low unemployment that you are interested in moving to for work, south Korea has a program for people to teach English and while that may not be a long term thing you don’t need to speak any Korean when you get there from what I remember.
I am going to admit I enjoyed the series a lot 20 years ago, can’t say I’ve read ger stuff since the series ended and haven’t done anything to support her since the whole TERF thing came out and she started showing what sort of person she was. I recently picked up my old books to see if they held up and by god is it filled with bigoted stereotypes, Cho Chang (two last names) for the Chinese girl, Goblins being the obvious stereotype/alehory of Jews from a European who was “open minded” about Jews pre ww2 but still wanted to make sure that they deserved some of the bad shit that happened to them because they’re vicious even if unfair wizard laws were passed, the black auror being called Shackelbolt, the wezeleys being very much catholics for being poor with too many kids, the french being snobbish bafoons but classy, the Centaurs being either polytheists or gypsies, the list just goes on and Harry being the hero just gets rid of the head Nazi while leaving the institutions and culture in place, doesn’t even think about the slavery aspect except for Dobby, and he and Ron make fun of Hermione for her pushing for their freedom. I guess the reason why people enjoy the series is because the world feels somewhat real and magical because she put her imagination and bigotry into the story and never thought of trying to have the protagonists actually solve a major issue and will let it fester.
How often is the moon completely invisible in our night sky? We reflect to the moon the same way the moon reflects light to earth, but that is the visible side, on the other side you have all the stars, gravitational lensing, other planets reflecting to that side of the moon, and even the small amount of luminescence all matter emits. But for easily visible on the dark side I’m pretty sure if there isn’t a small amount of the “dark side of the moon” lit up by the sun that it will appear like a lunar eclipse on earth minus the effect of our atmosphere, or it might be more of a solar eclipse situation and it would just be black with a very bright halo or outline.
That and Death Valley being below sea level and having the Sierra Nevada mountain range makes sense. Thanks.
How is California less flat than Colorado? Or am I misreading the whole thing?

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Iran threatens ‘complete and utter annihilation’ of OpenAI's $30B Stargate AI data center in Abu Dhabi — regime posts video with satellite imagery of ChatGPT-maker's premier 1GW data center
5·12 days agoWell in this specific instance they seem to be fighting clankers in a real way and for that I will give them props, even if their regime is vile and should fall, not the only one mind you (the current US administration and supreme court, the Russian got, the Chinese, the north Korean, the Hungarians under Or an, the Turks under Erdogan, the Israelis under Netanyahu, and that’s just scratching the surface all should be removed from control) but Iran’s current regime might have done something good for once.

Guys guys guys, chill, they can all be evil and you can add Bobby Kotick controlled Activision-Blizzard to the evil list as well as most of the games industry and tech sector once they get past a certain size.
