Chips Act, Take 1: Hey Intel here’s 8 Billion dollars to make us more chips in the US. Intel: I gotta let 15,000 of you go, there’s just not enough money…
Just a happy Fedora Gnome Linux user and metalcore music lover. Drop Acid, Not Bombs!

If you’re still using Google Chrome in 2024, you might be a moron. #Firefox
Remind me in 2 years when this project becomes discontinued…
They only have 40 posts so I gave them a follow. It’s when accounts have like 10k posts and an account is less than a year old that I won’t follow them, I don’t need that noise.
I use a filter on Mastodon so I can limit how much Elon Musk headlines I see. People love to talk about him, I mean here we are…but at least with the filter I can tune out the noise most of the time. It’s blissful. A shame there’s no filters (that I know of) on Lemmy to hide asshats like this. I already know Musk is a POS, I don’t need to see a dozen articles every single day to remind me…
“Wtf else do people want in gimp, an automatic dick sucking machine?”
I mean, now that you mention it, I would very much yes. YES.

Pros: vertical tabs, web apps, side panel, workspaces, many customizations. to be clear tho, Firefox has already stated they will be incorporating most of these features by version 130 or sooner.
Cons: no mobile app, video playback with DRM may be an issue on some sites, uncertain future, essentially it’s maintained by one dev so if they ever go the future is uncertain.
tl;dr, Floorp is kind of like Vivaldi with customizing and privacy in mind, but based on Firefox’s gecko engine
Just watched the video. Maybe it’s just me, but if you’re the driver in a Tesla, and it’s foggy as fuck outside, maybe, just maybe, don’t use the self driving aspect when visibility is that bad. The amount of people willing to trust Tesla with their lives (and others on the road…) is too damn high!
And if it’s bad, they’ll have wasted billions on it and will ruin their reputation even worse.
Ah, the Meta approach! I love to see it!
I woman programmer helped get humanity to the moon.
Don’t forget about Facebook’s responsibility in the Burma/Myanmar genocides too.

For anyone that doesn’t know, Forgotten Weapons YouTube channel is one of the best channels relating to guns. But it’s a historical, educational persepective on guns, mostly guns from WW1,WWII, and anything up until the 1980s, though he does deal with some rare and some modern guns from time to time. Overall it’s a fantastic channel, the main guy Ian breaks down a guns history, mechanics, how it handled in production or war time, he really does his research, so it’s not your typical “I like muh guns big and loud” type of channel, it’s legit informative and educational, 100% check him out if you have the slightest interest in guns and gun history.
I don’t use Twitter and my life is better off.
Slightly off topic, but the fact that I’m now seeing some Formula One/E news make it’s way onto Lemmy is a good sign to me that this place is starting to grow more and more.
Things I didn’t know I needed, thank you! Gonna give this a try right now for duckdudckgo
Godspeed to Pixelfed, but Instagram absolutely killed photo sharing platforms for me. I really want nothing to do with them anymore.
Not that this helps anyone, but I gave up Instagram the day Facebook bought it. I don’t regret it and my mental health is better for it. Using Instagram made me depressed as hell.
I’ll believe it when I see it.
