I’m left-handed and played through twilight princess on the wii multiple times before I found out that link was changed to be right handed. It really doesn’t effect the gameplay at all to swing the sword with a different hand than the one on-screen - I didn’t even notice it was different.

I always hand wash old pyrex. They were designed before dishwashers were a ubiquitous household appliance, and so the finish can’t take the stress. Same with vintage pyrex mixing bowls - if you wash them in a dishwasher, eventually they’ll lose their finish and strip down to the paint, making them feel like a chalkboard.

How beneficial is connecting via ethernet instead of wifi? My wifi mesh pods only have 1 ethernet out port, so I use it for my desktop. Not sure if I could split it or not, but I imagine if I did it’d slow down my desktop’s internet connection, which I’d rather not do.

Of course the answer is yes. They want the suffering. Everything else was just an excuse. They voted for the suffering of others, got the suffering of others, and are happy. Even if the price of groceries, gas, and everything else is higher, they don’t mind because they got what they really wanted.

We’re far from that step not because the majority of people aren’t mad enough to become violent, but because they’ve been trained to believe that violence is not only unnecessary, but counterproductive toward social change. We need to un-indoctrinate those individuals before people start coming to a protest ready to elevate it to a revolution if necessary, which is what is required to actually force change. If the politicians are aware that they can ignore a protest without consequence, they’ll never even give it a second thought. Until we are ready to take the next step, each peaceful protest is like tuning the ignition in a car with a dead battery.

You get organized violence by starting with peaceful protests consisting of people willing to become violent if ignored. I’ve seen a lot more people discussing how to prevent a peaceful protest from becoming violent than discussing how to best focus the valuable violence that grows out of the ignored peaceful protests.

Every time I meet someone new I think to myself “Okay, now, this time remember their name! Alright? Focus! Remember their name!” and come back to reality to realize I’ve auto-piloted my way through them telling me their name.

Every once in a while I’m able to convince myself to do just one tiny thing. Maybe it’s literally just looking at the thing I’m supposed to be working on, and from there I notice a thing that’s missing so I just grab it for when I start working on it, and then I might as well prepare and organize the materials for when I start working on it, and before I know it, I’m working on it. My friend himself met his wife through a recommendation from his pastor, whose niece was also a shut-in who loved manga and anime; you might as well take the opportunities that come along. It might not work out, but the only way to get good at asking people out and dating is to ask people out and date.

What you see as “spot the error” type training, another person sees as absolute fact that they internalize and use to make decisions that impact the world. The internet gave rise to the golden age of conspiracy theories, which is having a major impact on the worsening political climate, and it’s because the average user isn’t able to differentiate information from disinformation. AI chatbots giving people the answer they’re looking for rather than the truth is only going to compound the issue.

This is the real concern. Copyright abuse has been rampant for a long time, and the only reason things like the Internet Archive are allowed to exist is because the copyright holders don’t want to pick a fight they could potentially lose and lessen their hold on the IPs they’re hoarding. The AI case is the perfect thing for them, because it’s a very clear violation with a good amount of public support on their side, and winning will allow them to crack down even harder on all the things like the Internet Archive that should be fair use. AI is bad, but this fight won’t benefit the public either way.

That’s not haywire. We already know AI makes stuff up and gets stuff wrong all the time. Putting it in an important position doesn’t make it any less likely to make mistakes - this was inevitable.
