Oh, no no, I wasn’t accusing you of fearmongering, I was actually agreeing with you! Sorry for coming off the wrong way, I didn’t mean my post to come off as accusatory. :/
(she/they)
Hi! You can call me Tadpole. I enjoy maps/geography, sci-fi and speculative fiction, classic and sports cars and motorsports, and retro and retrofuturistic technology from the 70s-90s. Also a racing, role-playing, indie and retro video game connossieur.
I am a certified lurker.

Fucking hell, seriously… pardon the invocation of Godwin’s Law, but people used the same “Legislative and Judicial branches won’t allow it” excuse to claim that Hitler winning the elections in Germany wouldn’t be that bad and we all know how it ended up.
The amount of people burying their heads in the sand regarding Project 2025 is infuriatingly high and I hate it.
I actually use KDE Plasma myself, I just like to keep my desktop themes consistent since there are a bunch of GTK programs I use ^^’
Reactionary is really good. I do wish there was an equivalent for GTK4/Libadwaita, though.
That is very considerate of Windows 95, I could get used to this.
You’re absolutely right, but that unfortunately doesn’t matter for almost half of America considering how many people still keep lapping him up.
It’s not that they don’t know about Project 2025, they just don’t care about it. I’ve seen so-called “centrists” straight-up claiming that Project 2025 isn’t real just because Trump disavowed it… ignoring the fact that he had to since it was actually hurting his poll numbers. (The people who wrote P2025 are core members of Trump’s campaign staff. How naive do you have to be to see that and still think a politician wouldn’t lie?)
I wouldn’t be so sure. Back in 2018 when Bolsonaro (also a very extreme fascist) was running for president in Brazil, someone also attempted to kill him and very nearly succeeded, and it’s pretty much agreed that the failed assassination attempt gave him a massive poll boost and helped him win. I personally had the unfortunate experience of dealing with people here who were previously undecided but afterward decided to vote for Bolsonaro because they saw him as a vicitm trying to be silenced.
Considering how US elections are severely lopsided to depend on a couple handful of states that demographically generally aren’t affected by the risks of fascism and therefore generally see American elections as a harmless sport, there’s a very real possibility they’ll see Trump as a “martyr” trying to be silenced and throw their vote behind him.
It also seriously doesn’t help that Biden’s just been making far too many gaffes while Trump came off like a “defiant strongman” over this. I hope I’m wrong, but I’m extremely pessimistic about this being anything but a massive win for Trump.
Best part is it doesn’t have microtransactions or kernel anti-cheat like what Ubisoft will certainly stick onto the new Driver game either.
Use any you want. I’ve been mounting my internal secondary hard drive on /mnt for well over a year now and haven’t had any problems. Previously, I mounted it on ~/Storage
and it also worked fine (though only because I’m the only user in my computer; dual-user systems would result in the other user being unable to access the hard drive).
I get what you mean. I see a decent chunk of often more tech-proficient Linux users putting down Linux Mint, and it saddens me because even though I don’t use Mint anymore, it was still the first distro I properly daily-drove and I still consider it an amazing system for people who are new to Linux.
I’m very glad you’ve been having a good experience with Mint!
Honestly, you don’t have to worry about what others say, you should use what works best for you. Personally I find them to be nice and comfortable to use, myself 😅
How did you make it usable? I personally love restoring and making use out of severely-underpowered hardware and still have an old netbook lying around, so I’m curious to hear what you did with yours :o
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door quite a lot. Also getting back into Minecraft and Euro Truck SImulator 2. And of course, Cassette Beasts.
That’s what I’ve been thinking, too. As a zoomer/zillennial who doesn’t follow it, from what I’ve gathered Skibidi Toilet seems to be just Gen Alpha’s equivalent of YouTube Poops that Milllennials loved and GMod animation shitposts Zoomers enjoyed.
Considering I loved both of these while growing up, and still like rewatching them from time to time for nostalgia’s sake, it’d be hypocritical of me to hate skibidi toilet 😅
Yeah, I get you :c
I use CoreCtrl to fix my GPU’s atrocious fan curve, which is a necessity since normally it overheats to high hell. With CoreCtrl, I have a nice fan curve that makes my GPU rarely, if ever, run hotter than 70°C.
Honestly I’m very much a hermit plus I play the game very heavily modded, so I’m indifferent about the update if not worried it might break my mods lol
I think it’s absolutely amazing and I don’t regret spending money on it at all! Maybe it might be worth seeing if it’ll go on sale when the update releases just in case, but if not then I think it’s worth a full-price buy imo.
I’m getting back into Cassette Beasts and still am playing my comfort game, NFS Hot Pursuit 2
I’m not technically inclined at all, so the most duct tapey thing I can remember was hacking Gnome to use Nemo as my file browser instead of Gnome’s default file browser once.
