RHEL on servers, then either Debian LTS or Fedora on desktop. Been interested in Zorin OS but haven’t gotten around to trying it yet. Curious if their Windows application integration is as seamless as they claim.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What's the deal with people liking old devices?English
10·1 month agoBy using an older piece of tech that does one thing, you make doing that thing an activity again. As in, it’s a conscious involvement to do that thing now, it’s not just an app or a side feature of some other device.
For instance, I got an iPod Nano a little while ago and just loaded it with the few hundred songs I care to listen to. I use a fraction of the space of the thing if I care to add more music, but now when I want to listen to music I have to use a specific device to do so. It makes it more of a conscious decision to listen to music and, to me, makes me enjoy it more.

851·2 months agoThink of the dumbest person you know. Not that one. Dumber. Dumber. Yeah, that one. Now realize that ChatGPT has said “you’re absolutely right” to them no less than a half dozen times today alone.
If LLMs weren’t so damn sycophantic, I think we’d have a lot fewer problems with them. If they could be like “this could be the right answer, but I wasn’t able to verify” and “no, I don’t think what you said is right, and here are reasons why”, people would cling to them less.

Never have, never will. I’ll quit the industry before I use AI to do my job.

Holy hell, really? That’s so useful.
