Imo all daily/frequent use things should be max 15-20 minutes away on foot in an ideal design. I was extremely depressed when I was forced to live in a suburban nightmare with all paths being by busy roads (so unbreathable air) with the closest shop being 40 minutes away.

I don’t use Gnome, as I had other issues with it. I solely use KDE with Wayland on endeavourOS (so Arch). I have multi monitor issues on W10 at work and I’m waiting to upgrade to W11. I’d request Linux, but due to the project I cannot. I’ve heard plenty of bad stuff about Gnome crashing for people and had it crash for me as well. I’d recommend giving KDE a try if you aren’t too tired of trying, but I respect your choice of W11. Most people don’t have multiple screens though. I don’t recommend Linux to niche users, since they may have niche needs.

You’re aware someone might had something in the past, but not present, right? Time consists of past, present and future. I was never an active user, but whenever I’d make an account, I’d get tons of karma from my posts, but I’d always delete my account, because I was never fond of Reddit. The disgusting ads forced into feed were way too much to bear. I used it for work and to kill time commuting, but I no longer commute with my hands free and we reached quality level where users no longer report issues on social media.

I swear I’m not a Linux snob, but Linux is legitimely better for the average user than Windows. If you just need to use a browser, as MANY people do, Linux is more lenient on hardware and doesn’t lock you into an update screen of helplessness. I highly recommend ZorinOS, it has an option specifically for older machines.

Ohh, I got that warning on Adblock Plus on Firefox just now as well. Gonna move back to uBlock and hope it works.

What did you not understand about work? The MS ‘ads’ are about the MS software only afaik and my work requires operating via their suite.

I hate W10 so much I moved to Linux. Cursed tablet-first “OS”. At work we are supposed to get W11 soonish and I look forward to that. It takes a while to roll out new OS in companies. Once it happens, people will get used to it and probably upgrade at home.

I’m actually into terminal and abadonned two distros because they weren’t terminal centric for me. I recommend openSUSE and ZorinOS for people not into terminals.

And I literally started using Ecosia today, because DDG and Qwant failed for me. Thankfully, privacy isn’t my concern, but I hope this doesn’t affect search quality.

I’ve noticed AI tends to give everyone light blue eyes. Back when I used YouTube, I noticed people use AI to generate thumbnails and all people with brown eyes had blue eyes which confused me.
