  • I play 76 all the time. I’ve been on and off it since beta.

I recommend joining the official discord group as well as AngryTurtle’s discord group for friendly people to play with.

The game is in a really really good place right now. Lots of storylines, lots of endgame content, and the same great community the game has always had.

They are currently in the middle of a yearlong combat/perk rebalance with the next change (affecting all rifle/SMG/shotgun perks) due out in June.

    Some quick tips when levelling:

-Always join a casual team when first connecting to a server. There is no expectation that you group up with the people on your team and you will receive an INT bonus.

-When levelling up you can pick a different special point than the perk, and you can change the special point later at Perk Stations.

-Endgame crafting is dependent on learning plans and legendary affects. Learn all the cheap/free plans you can and SCRAP all legendary weapons and armor until you start getting level 50 gear.

-Join public events! They reward a lot of XP, unique plans and recipes, reputation (Eviction Notice and Moonshine Jamboree). If you see the Scorched Earth event you can avoid radiation using a hazmat suit.

-One of the best power armors in the game, Excavator is availability to craft very early, follow any guide online to learn the storyline.

  • That’s how aether works kind of.

    It’s P2P/decentralised rather than federated.

Anyone can make a community. With enough participation in a community one can become a mod. Mods can be impeached by vote of active participants.

Anyone can see nod actions and anyone can decide to disable the actions of any mod.

I love the system, I was active there before moving to Lemmy. I wish it had taken off/absorbed some of the Reddit fallout rather than Lemmy.

AFAIK it is not maintained or at least updated much less frequently than Lemmy/ActivityPub.

  • I would use Bazzite 100%. It’s an atomic fedora spin that aims to replicate SteamOS. It has a KDE Nvida variant, and comes preinstalled with all of the gaming software and optimizations you need out of the box. All that is required to update it is a restart.

Just switch to X11 from Wayland after first boot and you’re as good as gold. (If Wayland works fine with your card it may be a better option because I think it plays more nicely with BigPicture mode if you need that)
