My guy, circuit-bending is usually only for music.
I’m pretty sure those are possible. YT only works with a user logged in IIRC.
I use it mainly for local files, or for our local-channel’s ‘catchup’ streaming service.
I use Kodi, and then install Kore as the remote.
Plus Xmouse as a second remote.
This enables HTPC usage from a phone.

The entire OS is released into the Public Domain, so it’s technically more free than Linux, which is quite a feat.
Kind of like the Watts Towers, it’s a one-man curiosity or folly.
