Opt-out? Seriously? What are the Manjaro devs smoking?
What if you have appliances such as a scale, lights, watch or something? Pretty much guaranteed that those won’t work unless you use their app. If you want to go FOSS, you may need to sell all of your smart stuff and replace them with similar devices that work in a privacy respecting strictly FOSS environment.
My bank warned that they are planning to phase out the code booklet and replace it with a mobile app. Sure, you can continue to use a web browser, but how do you verify anything without a mobile app?
Also, some apps are very picky and refuse to work properly unless your android has GAPPS and is in the in an unmodified state just like the OEM intended. That’s bad news for privacy oriented Android users, let alone anyone who wants to run something even more FOSS.
“For instance, I often had to rely on the web browser to access services like Reddit, Telegram, and Discord since native apps weren’t available. Web apps work for primary use but can’t always replace dedicated apps, especially for banking or fitness tracking.”
That’s the core of the problem these days. Nowadays, there’s so much that requires an app to work.
Avoiding mobile apps was entirely realistic in the 2010s, but it’s too late for that now. The world has changed, that ship has sailed etc.
If you can isolate yourself from certain realities of the outside worlds, using a fully FOSS system can be done. The technology is there. It’s just that most people can’t isolate themselves to that degree.
Elon is so good with these predictions and promises, that there’s website for tracking them.
Oh, let’s add some financial motivation to hanging out in social media all day long. What could go wrong. Literally nothing. It’s just physically impossible.
It must have been a slow day at the news office. Literally nothing special to write about, so this article was slapped together.
So, basically the whole article is just a complete nothing-burger.
Ok, but can you still transfer your own books through MTP?
Are you seriously suggesting that Trump might not always speak the truth?
Sure keeps on giving. Reminds me of the time when Trump was President.
Sounds interesting. Care to elaborate that part about AI accelerating SEO spam?
That’s true for consumer electronics. However, more expensive things like cars are usually kept running for much longer.
They can also leverage the ecosystem effect. If it’s well integrated with some enterprise products, companies might buy it anyway.
Now that Samsung is doing it, you can expect the production to ramp up significantly. Hopefully this is going to be like time when Sony started manufacturing LIBs at large scale and changed to world.
Better switch to some horror film murder compilation video before answering the phone. At least I know it’s going to be all screams and blood splattering on the walls while I’m talking on the phone.
Brave can also block YT ads, but I’m not so sure about the extensions. If all you care about is blocking ads, brave is good enough. If you care about sponsorblock and many other FF extensions, Orion is probably way better.
I’m going to show this real quick and then we’re going to move on, so pause the video if you want to take a closer look…
And Helen is also pulling heat from waste water. The latest heat pump was just the next logical step.
Power demand would have to drop significantly for that idea to work. I don’t think semiconductors are even capable of delivering enough computation with only 2 mW. Maybe a completely different sort of technology could pull it off, but currently there’s nothing like that in the horizon, so who knows if we’ll ever get human powered devices. Maybe some tiny computers with hardly any processing power could be a realistic application.
