Ah yes, that darn hour of sunlight you lose.
Ah yes, that darn hour of sunlight you lose.
This is above my linguistic pay grade as I’m barely able to string together a coherent sentence when working, but, I think the moral here is that English is a crap language (at the very least very messy and lacks qualities found in other languages).
It’s a similar story for Swedish and German for example. Not exactly the same as Finnish, but the whole mashing words together for them to make better sense. I’m starting to think that English is the odd one out.
One example could be “kommunikationsdepartementssekretariatsanteckningar” (communication department secretary’s notes). But an English example would be where Swedish, German, I guess Finnish, would say “blackboard” instead of “black board” to remove the ambiguity while English mostly does the latter.
Yes. Fuck Russia and fuck Russians. Slava Ukraini!
I left and joined Lemmy. After a couple of months of being flooded by politics in /c/memes, actually it’s everywhere, and very little new content I started going back. Now I doomscroll both. I usually head to reddit after a couple of posts which portray me as a fascist because I’m not a Marxist.
Over here the “biggest” suvs I regurally see are the size of VW Tiguan. I believe Volvos XC40 and XC60 are pretty popular amongst the richer crowd.
But the most common is probably Kia Sportage. The text book example of a SUV which is engineered to look big, but it’s actually not at all and is overall a very cheap car.
Volvo V70 used to be the most popular car over here, now we’ve all fallen for the SUV scam :(
Modern SUVs are actually tiny, but look big, as far as I’ve seen here in Sweden. I’ve more then once parked next to a SUV I thought was big, then as I get out of my Volvo V70 I realise it’s very often just a Kia Picanto-esque car which had been raised, given a muffin top and ridiculously big wheels.
I have a colleague who is really into Rick and Morty and has colorful hair. He’s one of those who has a pink/purple theme with little to no contrast. I keep my distance.
Today I sat down at the computer around 8:30, had lunch around 10:55 - 12:00, then at 13:00 - 14:30 I went for a walk with my wife and 6 month old son to feed ducks which he absolutely loved, and I stopped working at 16:10. Adding all that together should equal to… I don’t care. The company who bought us and ruined everything had a 1.5 hrs townhall yesterday with 880 attendees, equating to some €30k lost in man power.
It’s not wrong, but it feels a bit like some tech articles you’ll see which are obviously just created to fluff up a CV. I wouldn’t say avyttring here is flat out wrong, just kinda… lacking.
But yeah, /boot holds “system boot loader files”, sure, but that’s a bit vague. It should contain your kernel and initramcpio and IIRC Grub also had its config here. That’s pretty much it. I would’ve rather said /boot contains the kernel.
“device files” it’s so vague that it’s almost wrong IMO. At first glaze I would’ve thought that it means drivers rather than, say, “interfaces to devices”
I don’t trust a graphic which explains /boot as “system boot loader files”…
Yeah, you hit the nail on the head. I’m getting pretty tired of all the recommendations of videos with 8 views next to “real” videos. I’m most definitely not getting any recommendations to large corpo channels, other than the ones I actually enjoy (Mythical Kitchen is probably the most corpo channel I enjoy).
Shorts can go to hell, but they’re very easy to avoid as you say.
Not only do they force you to use the App Store, developing an app for iOS is a nightmare. Without special tools you must have a mac and a $100/yr apple developer license.
After having to deal with that shit at my old place of work I’ve moved to never touch app development again.
I hate trucks and SUVs with a passion, but I don’t really get the hate here. I could barely fit two Billys in my 2015 Volvo V70, or our new kitchen table and chairs because it was too wide.
I’ll be installing a trailer hitch ASAP when we move because a trailer is always superior to trucks.
Or because you forgot one very crucial part?
I had that happen to me as a junior. The other seniors weren’t even able to help, so in the end nothing was done. IIRC it was an old python app which the OG author explained the nonsense logic of, but not how to actually run it, or vice versa. Either who the whole project was fucked up
Very good sir, but that’s neither relevant or helpful to the poor colourblind fellow.
You get used to it. Blinds are you friend, but driving is the worst. The sun is always in your eyes.
