Fuck AI@lemmy.world•"Why would I spend time bonding with my kid when I can just get an AI to do it for me?"

- It isn’t. He’s doubling down in the replies
A lack of the aforementioned (although I do actually like cars/motorbikes and software from a design and engineering standpoint). Bikes. Watches. Public transit. Good design. Photography. Art. Metal. Palestine (and by extension, antizionism and antifascism). An economic and social system that empowers everyone, not the just the rich and privileged.

3·8 days agotaking a wireless phone call via an earbud isn’t illegal.
I don’t know why you’re so hell bent on defending someone driving distracted but where she is and where I am it absolutely is illegal

6·9 days agoDo you guys remember that before Bluetooth cars, headphones were the only way to drive and take a phone call without getting a ticket
Absolutely. Speakerphones were never a thing, and phone manufacturers never made wired accessories or aux cables to connect to your car stereo.

someone could have hit her car and the mirrors broke
True. Broken mirrors look exactly like they’ve been neatly tucked in.

That “if” is doing a LOT of heavy lifting. Also it’s technically illegal in India, where this was taken

82·10 days agoSo those mirrors would have been literally smacking into throngs of pedestrians on all sides if they weren’t folded.
Well no. Even here in India we tend not to drive straight into throngs of pedestrians, nor do said pedestrians throng in the middle of the road. It’s just flat out irresponsible to drive with folded mirrors – even more than you’d think considering how horribly people drive/ride motorbikes here

181·10 days agoIn a community about the problems that cars pose, we don’t give people a pass for being careless simply based on how shitty their car may be.
(Also this photo was taken in India. That woman is richer than 80% of the population based solely on the fact that she owns a car)

4·10 days agoNot American. We did have a (rudimentary) section on reproductive anatomy in high school biology, but it didn’t really go through the full process of pregnancy, childbirth, and the physiological effect it has on the body.
Oh, and the teachers skipped it completely in biology class because they didn’t want to deal with a class full of teenagers snickering their way through it, I guess. We were told to just read the textbook.
“There’s not gonna be jobs in the future” does not lead to “eternally bored” in a capitalist dystopia like the one we’re turning the world into. Being bored is a luxury, and a staggering percentage of kids being born today will not have that luxury (and indeed, may well end up as cannon fodder often for no fault of their own) in the future we’re crafting for them.

childfree@lemmy.world•We most certainly do, and we'd like to keep it that way.
