Well no, what’s happening to you is also because of the general culture of overmedication. If there were less false positives, people wouldn’t distrust your diagnosis. If anything, I’d argue the current culture hurts the people who have serious issues more than the people who have been given a shoddy diagnosis in order to peddle drugs, but both sides are pretty rough.

For one, they were an already established and very strong empire on Mars while the Emperor was just getting humanity back together after a great collapse on Earth, so they negotiated the alliance from a position of power. For two, the Imperium gets every gun, every ship, every tank, every drop pod, every Titan, literally everything other than I think food and manpower for their armies from the Mechanicus. If you wanna start investingating their “definitely not-AI,” you gotta be prepared to have your shipments of Leman Russes to suddenly start getting lost.

currently have a stack of students’ academic records on my desk, the state of grading in the U.S. is just insane. I hate GPA with a burning passion. Very talented kids burn themselves out over a number that might as well be set arbitrarily, because schools do some very fucky math to inflate their numbers, and they all seem to do the math differently. Why do they do this math? Well, it’s because they’re allergic to giving out grades lower than a C, so their entire scale would cease to function if they didn’t heavily weight different classes over others. It’s like a tower of self-caused problems.

like 95-100% of the money that the crew of a movie or TV show makes is paid to them during production. There might be a handful of crew, typically writers, actors, and directors who get residuals, but that’s typically a very small fraction of the total amount they got paid.

Your money goes to the studio who produced the film/show in order to recoup their investment. and in my experience, the studio doesn’t actually give a shit about the creatives who made the thing you love. They’ll get rid of them for someone cheaper at the first opportunity, and a lot of them are trying to get rid of them for AI right now.

in-universe, the movie Air Bud exists. the new child watches that, and then the plot of the original Air Bud basically happens again; kid’s dad is dead, golden retriever comes into his life, and I guess this time he names it after the dog from the movie he saw? and also unless the film decides to get really meta I doubt the child will ever comment on the absurdity that his life is basically the plot of the movie he only recently saw.

I’m finally at a place where I can aim for a 1.0 ratio, but I’ve noticed that a lot of the stuff I torrent just uh…is not very popular lol. Some of them haven’t had a single peer in months! It’s kinda fun keeping an eye on it, sorta like a popularity contest.

Had a co-worker today try to be like “extra-legal executions just aren’t American” and I was like “welllll we sure seem to love doing them, especially against anyone with a skin color other than white.” Topic changed pretty quickly after that.

Been pretty good. swapped over to Bazzite, which does just about everything I need for a daily driver. Only real annoyance is my VPN. I haven’t been able to successfully connect through the openvpn configs that PIA provides, so I’ve been setting it up through terminal every time I log in. I think if I really sat down I could set it up to autologin, but it only “costs” me like 30 seconds and sometimes I like to connect to a server that allows port forwarding instead of a non-PF closer server. I also like getting to make the choice of which server I connect to vs autologging in to the lowest latency server.

I still have to use Windows 11 for work though, and holy shit do I prefer running two commands in terminal when I login to dealing with all the dumb fuckin bloat that OS has when I go home.
