On gigabyte boards, red ports were/are signifying their “ON/OFF charge” and “3x power” gimmicks. Basically means that it’s a usb 2.0, with 1.5A limit over normal 500mA, and remains powered when the PC is turned off.

In my country, the most popular taxi app(yandex) has an option to allow hitchhikers. If you and other person order a ride with this option on and a similar route, it will pick one of you then the other, and then drop each other off. Currently, the savings are not as good as I would expect, roughly 15-20% off for both, and there are hard limits like 2 minute wait time with no paid waiting, non-refundable order fee, only one person, no baggage, and this option only shows up if you’re either taking a long ride or if someone’s already riding one that somewhat coincides with yours. Sometimes, no second is found and the company, but mostly the driver, just have to eat the discount they gave you for enabling it. But, already as is, taxis are wrecking public transit and car ownership by utilizing cheaper immigrant labor. With scale they can potentially be filled more consistently and with more than 2 riders, and with autonomous cars there’s no need to pay the driver, even further reducing the cost. Also, never parking could massively increase throughput on some of the streets where there are entire lanes are filled with parked cars. At least in my city, this has enormous potential. The only problem is that competition is lacking, therefore reduced cost won’t necessarily result in lower prices.

The only person I know working in finance couldn’t even afford their own ThinkPad. In fact, they are a bit malnourished as they can’t even afford food some of the time. But they do live in this big, mostly empty house, which I could never afford in my entire lifetime, and towards mortgage for which most of their money goes. Not completely impossible, given high enough demand. Back in the day, third party servers for WoW and Lineage 2 were quite common. A more modern day example that comes to mind is FiveM, which is basically pirate GTA5 server which is arguably more popular than the official online mode.

Finding how dinosaurs sounded like, on the other hand, doesn’t take much theorizing - just take some well preserved remains, approximate breathing cavities structure and model it with something like a pink trombone. I’m oversimplifying, of course, but, the point is, it’s miles closer to us, time and space wise, than whatever physicists are rambling about.

Do you even need uBO on vivaldi, though? A friend of mine recently had an issue of sites breaking, even with all addons disabled. As we found out, vivaldi already has a built-in adblocker, which uses pretty much the same lists as uBO. In the end it turned out to be one of the easylist’s borked rules…

And it’s wrong, though. In Russia, we use space to separate thousands (with the exception of 4 digit numbers) - 1, 10, 100, 1000, 10 000, 100 000, 1 000 000 etc. People who care about formatting use a special thin space instead.

For decimal point, commas are used in bureaucratic environments because of some GOST or something, while normal people use dots, because windows calculator doesn’t accept commas, and neither does Excel if I’m not mistaken. So it’s kind of both on that front.

It’s great to have alternatives. If it was all linux, and linux got hit, then it’d be the entire world in danger. Too bad M$ is just not good enough for it’s second most popular position.

Might have some trouble if it’s a typec dock and the monitors are connected to it. Laptop’s own outputs might also be wonky if there’s a hybrid gpu setup going on, but support for thosr has improved a ton lately. Mkb should work fine out of the box as long as it’s not some unified proprietary bullshit wireless kit with smarfridge integration.

Overall, I would suggest just ripping an image of ubuntu, or pop_os if you got nvidia card, boot off it, just close the installer to try live mode, and see for yourself if everything works. Takes like an hour to do, no installation required. You can even install software, except gpu drivers, as everything would be all wiped on reboot and gpu drivers need reboot, hence popos suggestion as it has them built-in. You can try remmina on it - it’s the most common remote control software, supports both rdp and vnc and a bunch of other obscure protocols.

There’s an OS you might like. It has no UAC, no file permissions, no sudo nor chmod, as it has no multi-user support, no antivirus and no firewall, no protection rings, not even spectre/meltdown mitigations, and most of all - no guard-rails whatsoever: You can patch the kernel directly at runtime and it won’t even give you a warn. And yet, it is perfectly safe to run. It’s called TempleOS and it achieves such a flawless security by having no networking support whatsoever and barely any support for removable media. If you want a piece a software - you just code it in, manually. You don’t have to check the code for backdoors if it’s entirely written by you… only for CIA at your actual back door…

EDIT: Alright, this is a terrible case because the parent element has flex and therefore no inline-flex is necessary there, but I’d argue it’s the parent element being flex that is redundant, rather than child element being inline.

Chromium is a superior engine, yes. But Chrome itself, at least in my eyes, looks to be the least capable browser out of the bunch. I’d rather Vivaldi if I had to switch.

Sure. Here you go. The green container should cover all red boxes in both cases. I’ve been bashing my head against this issue for a while, but, as far as I understand, this is a bug that’s never going to be fixed. Which sucks, because I wanted to re-design some of the apps in the horizontal metro-style scrolling manner for the bottom screen on my zephyrus duo, but this effectively prevents me from doing so (Unless I use grids and set positions manually).

It’s 2024 and flexboxes still don’t work that well with vertical direction and wraparound…
