I told my grandmother I wanted to be Spider-Man one year and she went and hand sowed a custom for me with 6 extra legs off the sides and crocheted a spiderweb cape for it. Of course being a child I was upset when my mom told me I was wearing it no matter what. But looking back now, it was pretty funny and really sweet.

There is a road about 10 miles from my house that is just rural and empty, has a huge shoulder to ride on, and no major elevation changes. My perfect Saturday morning was riding 20-30 miles on that road.

…And then the county went and put chipseal down. It created so much resistance on my tires that it felt like pedaling in mud. And it only got worse overtime because all the loose chipseal the cars kick up piles up on the shoulder. It just breaks my heart.

When my son was younger he was extremely scared of thunderstorms. The closest under our stairs is fairly large and is in the middle of the house, so with a noise maker he couldn’t hear the storms in there. We ended up putting a cot in there and decorating it with a bunch of Harry Potter stuff. Any time there was rain he would just hang out in there until it was over. At one point he actually preferred it to his bedroom.

I started using Crunchbang because it was so lightweight and ran great on Virtual Box on Windows 7. I stopped using it, when they stopped developing it. I wasn’t aware of ++. I will be installing it this evening.

It’s my wife’s all time favorite show, so I really tried. Some of the early arcs were a drag (cough, cough, Arabasta, cough). But from Water 7 through Marineford it just got better and better, and I really enjoyed it. Even after the time skip Dressrosa and Whole Cake were for the most part engaging. But man, Wano was such a slog. By the time they finished the flashback, I just didn’t give a shit about that island anymore. I’m tempted to just skip to Egghead, or give One Pace a shot.

I watched nearly a thousand episodes of One Piece before finally giving up when they did a 17 episode flashback for a story that could have been told through exposition.

I had to travel out of the country for work, so the night before I got all packed up and put my passport and wallet on the end table where I always kept them. Next morning I woke up and was getting ready to head to the airport and my wallet was gone. I tore apart my entire house trying to find it. Just as I was about to call the airline to reschedule my flight, my wife found it. It has slipped off the end table hit the arm of the couch and got stuck in a little cut out decorations around the edge of the end table. Just perfectly balanced, so it didn’t fall when I was pulling everything apart.

I wish my cat would do cute things like that. When she wants to eat she just sits by the door and gives me a death stare. Then if I don’t notice her after a bit she’ll tear around the house like mad while making the fox em noise from Robinhood Men in Tights.

My cat is the very definition of a cat, totally aloof, fiercely independent, kind of an asshole. She only acknowledges my presence when she wants to eat. She loved to bait the dogs and get them in trouble for chasing her. No guests in our house have ever seen her. The only times she even allows me to pet her is when she has a mat she wants me to get out.

The only exception is with my daughter. She absolutely loves her. As long as no one else is around she will love all over her. This picture was from about 2 years ago when my daughter got a nasty cold, and she watched over her the entire time. She even turned around and yelled at me shortly after taking this picture because my daughter started having a small coughing fit.

I took a similar path but eventually ended up on openSUSE for my desktop. I’ve been pretty happy with it. I can’t think of a single issue that I wasn’t able to quickly resolve. I even got CUDA installed and working in under an hour.

I coach youth soccer, so yeah, I’ve had a couple of confrontations. Usually I can stop them pretty quickly. It helps that I’m a 6’1" 220 lb male. The worst (or stupidest) one I had was a parent trying to sit on the kids side because there was no shade on the parents side. I told him he needed to move and he refused. I explained to him that only coaches and players are allowed on this side for player safety. He told me he was a coach, so I asked to see his coach’s card. Which of course he didn’t have. I told him he needed to move or the game would be forfeit and I would call the police because he did not have the proper background checks to be near the players. He moved, but moved behind the goal. So he technically wasn’t on the players side. You know like something a 10 year old would do, not a grown ass person.

I tested out Ubuntu, Fedora, and Mint before landing on openSUSE. It by far has been the most stable. Especially when dealing with my Nvidia GPU and getting CUDA working.
