Missed opportunity: the body in the picture should have been for an arch-top guitar.

The term you’re looking for is “uncanny valley”
Earliest game I can think of would be Super Metroid, with it’s X-Ray Scanner, which is an upgrade you get partway through the game. It’s not 100% necessary, but some of the game’s secrets are designed with it in mind.
The Metroid Prime games implemented an FPS version of this pretty well. Really contributed to the atmosphere in some places. Also, while the visors let you see otherwise invisible things, they also made other things harder to see (or, in the case of the scanning visor, you couldn’t shoot while it was on.)
Is the debate being simulcast on all the major networks? I seem to remember seeing the Trump/Harris debate on ABC, CBS and NBC (just with different talking heads before and after).
If so, ABC should broadcast the debate with fact-checking overlays (Pop-up video style?) and advertise the shit out of the fact that they’ll be doing this.
“Siri, how long has this been going on?”
Like tears… in rain.
Why doesn’t someone just fork it and change the name?
Like, I dunno, “Super Human Image Treatment” or “Consistently Lovely Image Treatment Oriented for Real Imaging Stars”
My headcannon for this is that spaceships in that universe are to those people what cars are to us. If you know the basics of driving a car, you can drive most cars, though the bigger ships might get more complicated (I’ve never seen one of our heroes try to back up a star destroyer into a starbase to help with their buddy’s move.)
Yeah, but no one can escape the gravitational field of your mom.
(Sorry, couldn’t resist, as I half expected your comment to end with a “your mom” joke)
You assume there’s lots of chemicals, but did you check? The process of canning food doesn’t necessarily require a lot of chemicals: a lot of canned food is cooked in the can, after it’s sealed, which kills most of the microbes that might spoil the food and make you sick. And because it’s sealed, no microbes can get in, either.
How much of the music at that EDM festival you went to will you listen to again? Will you buy any of their records? Or maybe just add a few of their tracks to a playlist on Spotify such that you may hear that music a couple more times in the future?
I may be making assumptions about you, but I think Rick’s point about new music becoming “disposable” because there’s just so much of it coming out remains valid. There’s still new songs coming out that transcend this, but the musicians making this music are finding it harder and harder to build up a following, get exposure, and convince record labels to invest in them, when these labels can invest way less, produce a shitton of disposable music and get a better (short-term) ROI.
Cuts like a knife, don’t it?
It’s not density, it’s mass. A mass of 1kg compressed to the density of the Sun’s core would pull the Earth with just as much force as a 1kg ball of styrofoam.
You can do that today. Just ask Chat-GPT to write you a bash script for something non-obvious, and then debug what it gives you.
People complain about the total cost too get everything in The Sims, but I don’t remember anyone complaining about the total cost of every song in Rock Band.
I only take medicine when the symptoms literally prevent me from functioning or threaten my life. With fever, I actually wrap myself up to keep warm, which lets my body “rest” instead of working to raise my temperature. This approach appears to have helped me get through many infections quickly, though I admit this is anecdotal.
Doing more with less until we can do everything with nothing!
Daylight come and me want go home.
It plays a sound that says, and displays a popup which reads: “Please do not press this button again. Thank you.”
