You could download a terminal app (termux from f-droid) and run ls > file.txt. You would first want to cd (change directory) to the location you’re interested in. This will generate a file.txt with the output of ls (list files command).

There’s like 100-200+ individual contributors to each of the apps. Practically impossible for everyone to agree to relicense especially considering the community reaction to the sale.

Why do you say that? Unless they completely rewrite the app from scratch it is not even possible to have a closed-source version of the app. That’s what the GPLv3 does.

AFAIK the code is all GPLv3 so they won’t be able to close-source it.

All the code is GPLv3 so it will remain FOSS. There’s no need to immediately switch to other apps. You can optionally fork then build the apps for yourself.

How do judges normally treat destruction of evidence? Do they not care who committed the crime and just make a ruling on how to infer it? I feel like the court would want to know who has committed something as serious as this but I’m not sure of the actual process for it.

I found a number of articles specifically stating that video games and software remain illegal. Unfortunately I couldn’t pinpoint the specific part of the law as they appear to br written in French and was running into hurdles with Google Translate character limits that I couldn’t be bothered to work around.

Furthermore, it’s illegal for anyone to record your IP address torrenting a work and track you down that way as it violates Swiss data protection laws.

In Switzerland, individuals are still free to download whatever files they like for their own private use (except for software and video games).

Note that uploading or seeding a copyrighted work, which was a misdemeanor under the previous law, remains illegal.

If we are to take this stated goal at face value it would seem to be a good thing. Getting ahead of the curve before the tech giants find a way to turn these products against us.

The problem is a lot of Australian’s will not take this at face value especially in the current climate of the movement away from physical cash. If the photos go to a private directory but you are now rooted you should be able to directly access that directory and copy the files out. This is assuming that they are stored as regular files in that directory instead of being solely in the sqlite db. Does that work?
