29·8 days agoOman gain nothing from the ships passing through the straight right now.
However if Iran gets its way and toll the ships there would be some money flowing toward Oman.
If I am Oman, I don’t see why I would fight against that

10·12 days agoOn modern Linux system yes but old Unix servers (or even recent?) would run it no problem
Edit:
It was initally introduced by sun microsystems in 2005 and was later adopted by GNUSun Microsystem didn’t introduce it in 2005, rather it simply disallowed rm -rf / altogether
Later GNU introduced --preserve-root and after that made --preserve-root the default and added --no-preserve-root https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rm_(Unix)

9·12 days agorm -rf /* should work just fine
It depends how your boot is setup
If you intially get the uefi boot (usually black screen) then try to search “removing entries from uefi boot in Linux”
If you directly get colorful screen then it could be grub and in this case u search for grub instead of uefi
But it also could be something else that is neither grub nor uefi, you really need to find out first what is your bootloader
The easiest solution is to format windows partition and mount it as separate mount point (for example /mnt/extra) and use it for storing any large files you have (movies, songs, books, photos, backups, downloaded files …)

11·1 month agoWhen you say a “random person would die” well that random person could be me or someone I am close with.
Its should’ve been: “but a random person - who isn’t you nor any of your close family and friends - dies” then yes, billionaires would absolutely smash that button

6·2 months agoi double checked after I saw your comment:
The original project “Photonic Fence” is real and theoretically work however it never turned into a product because it requires very expensive components to identify and kill a mosquito in the fraction of a second it passes in front of the device not to mention the risk of that laser reflecting on something and blinding a passing person.
However other products with same concept are for sale currently and those are the fraud.
I apologize for the misinformation in my original comment

141·2 months agoI think the terror thing.
Because doing that terrorist attack is what got the US bogged into many wars which lead people to be fed up with the way the US is being run by traditional US presidents which ultimately led them to elect Trump (at least for first term).

14·2 months agothe one from 13 years was about killing flying mosquito and it was later turned out to be
fraud(sorry original project wasn’t a fraud but it never went into production see replies to this comment). This uses equipment worth thousands of dollars to kill stationary mosquitos (standing on a white wall).
Maybe it works but it will not “wipe out” his mosquito problem. most mosquitos would be hanging out under your desk where your feet are.
