  • FUCK.

    that’s my hometown.

haven’t been there in years, but i used to walk there a lot. i typically just had to walk on the grass or in the ditch next to the road. then i had to plan my entire route around where i could cross the roads. very very few places to do that, and almost none that were safe.

got harassed by the cops once because i was walking at night with a flashlight in that town. walking is so uncommon there that it’ll get the police called on you.

    also, more town than city.

same kind of crazy line formed there when they got chick-fil-a and portillo’s. it’s in Wisconsin, so they got chick-fil-a late and portillo’s early in their respective spreads across the country.

  • but there’s so many other ways to change difficulty.

change number of enemies and where they spawn change gear and abilities, the Witcher did that one with how the stamina system worked. it didn’t drain on the lower difficulties. horizon zero dawn made everything in the shops more expensive and made the enemies drop less money. honestly, that one also sucked. only served to make the game grindier.

    point is, there’s other options.

  • it might be more useful to a newer photographer trying to learn about that, but it would just add confusion to the layperson. this is meant explain this neat concept clearly to non photographers.

it’s true though, these kinda of graphics can lead to people misunderstanding this effect as a natural part of the focal length of the lens and less about how far you are from the subject. i had that misunderstood once 😅.

i think the ideal middle ground is probably keeping graphic the same, but adding a comment that explains that detail about it for those who care. a bit like how this all played out actually.

  • damn… does this count? like generally we want to avoid plastic cups in the ocean, but would it be bad to take something like this from say, a hermit crab? if we take the cup where will it go? chances are it will just end up somewhere else it shouldn’t, but this time without being made use of by crabs. my knee jerk reaction was to say animals using plastics don’t count, but that’s clearly not true when we reuse garbage intentionally to create animal habitat like artificial reefs. can we really say that only humans have the capacity to reuse their own garbage effectively?
