I think the statement “this system is consistent” is a practical statement that is unprovable in a sufficiently powerful consistent system.

Can you help me understand the tone of your text? To me it sounds kinda hostile as if what you said is some kind of gotcha.

It’s very counter intuitive. As the other commenter suggested I was referring to Gödel and his incompleteness theorem.

Actually if the system you made up doesn’t work it would be possible to prove that it does inside that system as you can prove anything inside a system that doesn’t work.

That is why my comment is not entirely accurate it should actually be: Until you prove that if the system works you can’t prove that the system works.

Can you spot the difference in the logic here?

  • I’m actually quite interested in dress history. I’m an engineer at heart and clothing is fundamentally also an engineering problem (and design of course). It’s an area of engineering that was always dominated by women and you can sometimes see the novel approaches that brings.

For example historical corsets were actually quite comfortable when fitted right. One reason why is actually breast support. Predecessors to the modern Bra did exist but were not in fashion as a more compressed looking bust and later a shaped silhouette was in fashion.

Also it’s cool what tricks one can use to form the silhouette without extremely compressing the waist (which is how many modern people often think is the function of a corset).

I recommend Bernadettes channel on this topic: link

If you only think about half live then yes it would be radioactive forever but in reality after a long time every atom would’ve decayed into non radioactive elements.

You can even calculate the expected time it would take for the random process of decay to terminate.

  • Hmmm, ok what if the biters the critters themselves are stupid drones but the nests are sentient. Maybe the biters are like white blood cells part of the natural defenses of the nests. Something the “Brain” cannot control directly.

I am not saying this is the case or the developers thought that but it certainly is a possibility.

  • Sure sounds like something a colonizer would say.

I first wanted to “/s” this but it’s literally the reasons some colonizers used to justify atrocities. Btw it’s canon that the factorio guy is evil as confirmed by the developers.

I get it in the game there is no way of confirming or even researching the sentients of the bugs but be honest was it your first instinct to check if they are? I sure as hell didn’t. I mean they attacked me first, right?..right?! (Until you realize that you are killing them with your pollution)

I love that game design, even the music plays a role. Iirc it was designed a bit eerie as if something is wrong.

There are many ways of being evil, petting the dog does not make a truly evil character less evil.

A lot of real life evil people actually like animals at least when it suits them in my experience.

A bit off topic but there are games where you are absolutely evil but it’s not easily recognizable. For example factorio.

Most people consider themselves not evil.

  • What is the danger of explaining the word “bullshit” to children? Of course like many topics it should be explained carefully e.g. reading Frankfurt before discussing this specific paper.

And religion can politely go fuck itself when it comes to deciding what words professional academics use. They did that long enough already… But actually I know a few religious philosophers and they use the term without complaints.

Funny Gentoo actually was my gateway to arch. Loved the customizability of Gentoo and the rolling release model.

But building Chrome and Firefox (I needed both for work reasons sometimes) every update was the nail in the coffin. Switched to Arch and didn’t miss a thing.
