I feel bad for anyone with no linux experience who bought a steam deck. There’s a good amount of weirdness with the UI sometimes, and modifying desktop mode controls can lead to it ignoring inputs until steam launches on occasion.

I know these issues stem from this being a brand new device with a brand new form factor, using whacky proprietary track pads and shit. But someone who’s only used windows might attribute them to linux and be left with a bad taste.

It’s good that the Ally exists so we can have a windows handheld to compare against.

I reckon you could kill it with a pin in a casual enough way, maybe make it look like you’re just putting a hand there to lean? Also you have like 4 other people come throughout the day and get gas at that same pump, and they do a similar casual hand movement around the speaker.

They’re super loud and in my experience usually political, think local office smear ads and oil lobbyist propaganda.

If the gas pumps have those unlabeled buttons around a screen, try pressing all of em. The pumps around here (nebraska) will mute the audio when you press one of the buttons, it just isn’t labeled. I’ve taken to writing “mute” on the magic-button with a sharpie whenever I pump my gas.

You might have luck with some of that intimidation with just repetition/experience. Like I hardly get scared away from metalwork anymore because I’ve been doing a ton of it this year, but I’m still really slow at and kinda scared of painting.

The big killer for me is when anything starts going better then expected, and now I’m suddenly more worried about ruining it than I am excited/confident to finish it. I try to remind myself as often as possible that I stand to learn more from one failure than I could from ten successes.

I read that telling someone about a project triggers the same neural responses that finishing that same project would do, and can make you more prone to leaving it unfinished. I’ve started doing my best to keep super quiet about stuff if it’s a project that I really want/need to actually finish. It’s been working surprisingly well for me!

Nop, named so because once you learn how to use it properly, you can finish tasks faster and easier than any other plug-in solution. Plus it’s way less awkward than just rubbing randomly all over the trackpad.

in my experience tumblr was actually a lot better about separating the smutty tags from the general ones for a fandom.

and therein lies the crux of the issue. lots of folks who were around before the porn ban would argue that the smut was integral to tumblr’s identity; that the tumblr we have today is just a shadow of what it once was.

they banned porn because they were bought out by the owners of wordpress, and the kerfuffle with credit card companies suddenly refusing payments on pornhub had just happened. the stated reason was so they don’t step in some unseen controversy and get blackballed by mastercard, which is a bit prudish if you ask me.

The email he got from support suggested hosting the mp3 on a third party site like youtube or soundcloud, which is a good idea I reckon. Youtube would work for videos, and I guess imgur or imgbb for images?
