To rent a movie from 2005, I need to pay 4 euros. A standard with ads Netflix subscription is 5 euros or lowest tier without ads 8 euros (so 1,25x or 2x the price for unlimited access). I’ve encountered this multiple times. I’d be open to paying, but it just doesn’t add up for me. So what do I do? Sail the seven seas. Nonetheless, I find this “business model” really dumb, because I have a hard time imagining many if any people going for it.

Btw, fyi, if you have Netflix with ads, watch it in a separate window. While the ads do stop if you change tabs, it doesn’t detect separate windows, so you can do sth else while the ads play.

For old shit, 99 cents, for a new release like $5-7. You also got unlimited watches for that 1-2 day period.

OK, so in 2023 dollars that’s $2.33 to $16.48. Most digital rentals also allow unlimited watches within 24-48 hours.

      Things haven’t changed much.
