I don’t know how common it is, so I’m not sure how normal it is. I think a lot of people live with parents who don’t seem to understand how their words affect their children. My mother has never said this to me, and if she ever did, it would have crushed me. I’m sorry OP. I’m not sure what her reason was for saying that to you, but we’re glad you’re here and alive.
