Voyager just updated so my old phone (Galaxy S8) will no longer work because of outdated webview? There is a recent Google update trying to nag me to install, however I believe this is the one that purges unsigned apps and/or adds a ton of datascraping (my phone no longer receives updates so this push is HIGHLY suspicious).

I don’t want to update, it’s a fucking message board, I can use a browser to view it, so why shittify everything? I installed Boost, spent the 5 minutes unchecking the 200 ad vendors it sells data to, yet it has an ‘unknown error’ logging into my account. It can display the guest instance fine, however. Even the sh.itjust.works site struggled on waterfox to load until I somehow prompted a login recovery screen that triggered the anti-bot verification and then I could use it.

I’m tired, man. Can’t apps and webdev just work? Why is trying to remain private and degoogled such an uphill fucking battle? I cannot be advertised to, please stop breaking all my shit by trying.

If you’re trying to be private then part of that is being secure too. Your s8 isn’t getting security updates. Stuff like this vulnerability leaves you as easy prey. Having an unupdated android version is also why there were/are a lot of flock vulnerabilities.

We had to enable attack mode on sjw because the poor server was getting hammered by bots, which breaks apps. It had nothing to do with your device or Google, it was unusable most of the afternoon until we enabled the anti bot verification thing.
