      I bought my niece witchhat atelier to read. I find it pretty funny that they are witches, if male or female, and no one cares, because that’s just how it is.

      AFAIK there is nothing stating that you must be a woman to be a witch. I am pretty sure that wizard being the male equivalent is a far more modern usage.

        Yeah, even in historical witchcraft trials, it was pretty common to have men on trial, as well (though IDK what the exact nomenclature was for alleged male witchcraft practitioners, but certainly not “wizard”).

        Edit: It seem like even scientific works regularly talk about men being accused of being “wizards” in the context of witchcraft trials. Haven’t been able to dig up any historic accounts about those, though, so I’m not quite sure how historic this term is. This even extends to German regions, where a man was known as “Zaubererjackl” (wizard Jackl), and I did find a couple of historic accounts that mention the word “Zauberer”, and specifically “Hexen und Zauberer” (wizards and witches).
