Hopefully once the problematic content is a little further down my feed I’ll be able to go back to Sync, but until then Voyager is good enough.

Go to the other thread in this community titled “anyone run across a post that crashes sync?” and then just scroll down into the comments, and your client should crash.
I just did that and it absolutely crashed without fail. It’s like the worst ARG ever but still fun to see.
Fix should be live within the next hour or so.
I kind of love how we sync users are sort of like the OT Israelites wandering the desert and losing faith, then you periodically pop up and are like, “bros… relax. I was just gone a couple weeks and y’all lost your goddamn minds”

I’ve been working in the background but haven’t been very good at keeping up with comms this time. But I’m back and working through everything.
Try “boost” for lemmy… As a former sync reddit user I highly recommend this one
It’s stupid but… I don’t like their font choices. If it had the one sync uses I’d be more on board.
I also find it slow when swiping away images, sync does that immediately but boost gives me a brief black screen.
Shit, I just want two column view that isn’t so crowded it’s useless.
Sync is it for that. Even eternity doesn’t get it right, but boost is horrible in column view.
That being said, boost is really good otherwise. But I feel you, when you have a dealbreaker about something as fundamental as fonts, it can be trifling as fuck to work around. And it isn’t a trivial issue. My dyslexic ass has trouble with fonts, so I get it. Even if it’s only readability that’s at stake, that’s a huge part of a forum like this.

Aw, man, I’m liking the look of Boost, but does it not offer swipe actions? That’s such a useful feature…
Does it, or any of the other apps, show you to categorize saved items? That was the big reason I paid for Ultra, so I’m very frustrated that LJ against Sync before even implementing that

Oh wow! Long time no see! I’m definitely glad to hear that, but I know I’m not that only one who’s been frustrated by the silence and lack of updates. Can you speak to concerns as to the future development of Sync for Lemmy?
Was there something in particular you wanted me to work on?
Obviously the big things were the advertised Ultra features which were still missing. It sounds like those are being worked on now, but it was disappointing to be paying for Ultra for half a year without those.
The other concern, though was that changes in Lemmy itself left Sync either broken or missing features. It was in fairly minor ways (although “scaled” sorting was definitely missed), but I worry that in the future something will change that breaks it in a more drastic way, and if we’re getting five-month gaps in the development of Sync, that’s a long time for it to be broken.
Don’t get me wrong, I think Sync is the best Lemmy app out there, and I’d rather use it than anything else, but the big justification behind the price increase had been that it was going to receive more constant development, and so far that doesn’t seem to have been the case.I’m a little at the mercy of the lemmy devs for push notifications and didn’t want to spam their servers but it’s still ongoing.
Saved categories is nearly ready to go though.
Is it just the scaled sort too? I’d totally missed that but it’s coming in today’s release. The last release was in Dec which added full 19 support aside from that. Sorry I missed it.
Yeah the giant tiktok ad at the top of every post for a poorly supported client is the nail in the coffin for me.

On desktop yeah, but on mobile it’s much nicer to use an app.
I’ve never felt that. 95% of my lemmy usage is on mobile and I use the site. What benefits do the apps offer?
The big one for me is not losing my place in the feed when I hit back from reading the comments on a post. That makes the web ui pretty much unusable for me on mobile, I get constantly thrown back to the top of my feed.

Try jerboa, eternity, voyager, thunder, etc. OP . Time to join the FOSS side.
I’ve tried them all, didn’t like them :( Sync just has the most polished UX imho and it’s hard to leave it when I’ve been on it for years.
What device do you use ?
Z Fold 3. It’s really about the dense layout though and the amount of spacing / font sizes / everything.
If you tried it a while ago do try now too because the difference is day and night i would reccomend going to izzy and trying all of them and go to playstore or github for racoon.
It was actually just last week. I installed all the lemmy apps I could find and spent 30 minutes on each one seeing if I liked it and could customize it the way I want.
“izzy”? Racoon wasn’t on my list, I’ll give it a whirl.
