This is a very unusual take in my opinion for the show. It’s more commonly believed that the Rosita and Gabriel matchup made no sense.
I know nothing about those particular shows or films. I would expect a US remake of a show or film to possibly do recasts.
Does this upset you? I believe Thailand also did a modern reimagining of Snow White too, with a Thai actress playing the role.
Doctor Who has always been a character who can regenerate and reform by design. They’re an alien species. I’d argue its more important they’re eccentric guile heroes in performance than their sex or race.
It depends on context. Doctor Who is a fictional character. Historical figures are not. It isn’t hard to understand why there are different reactions there.
Well I guess I was hoping people wouldn’t reply with “Game of Thrones” lol. I do regret not time restricting it though, in hindsight.
Dude I’m just trying to entice continued activity. I appreciate that some here are sharing more popular shows. Maybe I could make a rating cut-off point on IMDB (5k votes or lesser) and remove all comments that include a show above that threshold lol.
Tbf the Joseon era in Korea did last for just over 500 years. It makes sense it’d dominate on a scale larger than say, Victorian-setting dramas in the UK do (and they’re pretty common)
Let me know if I’ve missed any. It’s tedious to compile all this because no streaming service seems to understand how to actually share whats coming next properly.
What about TV?
I mean it’s often just 20 second snippets or game reviews or asinine nerd-political gaming commentary? A ton of it is very formulaic.
Do you watch scripted TV?
Well opinions on Negan aside, they were completely following the comics for one of those deaths.
For me:
Babylon Berlin intro captures the art, the deco, and the fear of what the viewer knows is going to come of that time period.
Black Sails just perfect
Raised by Wolves I was hit and miss on this in many ways, but this intro is great - albeit I think slightly misleading as to its overall tone.
Pennyworth I thought S1 was a bit silly, but what an intro.
Happiness This is just fun, and fits the show brilliantly
See also isn’t bad
Song of the Bandits The song on the YT video isn’t great here imo, but they actually mix it up in the show proper and use different songs. And some really fit the theme.
If we’re talking about music in general through the show rather than just the intro - The Korean High Fantasy series Arthdal Chronicles. Some stunning, music, throughout, the show. It was also kinda like watching a JRPG (even if Korean).
Expanse left at a time jump, so it’s not implausible it could come back.
I was quite upset by The Peripheral recently. And although it didn’t release to much fanfare, Constellation.
I’d also recommend to you based on this: Paris Police 1900, Balkan Shadows (if you can get a hold of this). Balkan Shadows is quite literally just the Balkan version of this.
I wish thumbnails worked for non-linked content.
It’s about the choice of song at the end.
Well kinda, except if I wanted to do I could just extract the datafiles from steam and then get crack if the worst happened.
Plus Netflix/Amazon/Apple remove content all the time and thus terminate people’s access to stuff they’ve bought on there.
Well this is more for the lesser-watched, often geoblocked shows whereby you simply can’t acquire them legally.
Yeah, but you don’t “buy” buy them proper. They’re like digital renting.
Regarding Doctor Who, Nguti will not be the Doctor forever. He’s just one of many. Whether or not he was specifically chosen because he’s black or not, I don’t know, but I don’t see any inherent problem with the Doctor being black. Race shouldn’t be core to the identity of the doctor.
I think this is a much wider issue beyond the casting for Doctor Who. I’d argue the general decline of entertainment monoculture in general plays more of a role here than any particular creative decision for remakes or reimagining of TV series and films.
